Role Description
We're looking for an experienced Construction Manager in the Albany, NY area. As a Construction Manager, you will serve as the primary representative overseeing projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role requires a proactive leader who can effectively manage schedules, budgets, project controls, quality assurance, and field coordination while maintaining strong relationships with project stakeholders. You will work closely with owners, architects, engineers, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contract requirements. This position offers the opportunity to manage meaningful projects that improve infrastructure and institutional facilities throughout New York's Capital Region. You'll work alongside experienced professionals in a collaborative environment where your technical expertise, leadership, and decision making directly influence project success.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage multiple construction projects simultaneously throughout all phases of delivery.
- Coordinate with owners, design professionals, contractors, and regulatory agencies to achieve project objectives.
- Monitor project schedules, budgets, and overall performance while identifying and mitigating project risks.
- Lead regular site visits to monitor construction progress, quality, and compliance with contract documents.
- Facilitate project meetings and maintain accurate meeting minutes and project documentation.
- Review contractor submittals, RFIs, change orders, pay applications, and project schedules.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations, contract requirements including drawings and specifications, and company standards.
- Identify project issues then implement effective solutions to minimize impacts to cost and schedule.
- Prepare reports and communicate project status to clients and internal leadership.
- Foster positive working relationships while maintaining accountability among project stakeholders.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a combination of technical knowledge, leadership ability, and strong communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and relevant construction experience will also be considered.
- 2\+ years of experience in construction management, owner's representative services, commercial construction or similar role.
- Strong understanding of construction means and methods, project controls, and construction administration.
- Experience reviewing construction schedules, budgets, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety best practices.
- Ability to manage multiple contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and concurrent projects.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
- Proficiency in Procore and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and Project).
- Experience with public sector or institutional construction projects.
