Summary

The HR Generalist serves as the organization's primary Employee Liaison, overseeing the employee experience throughout the entire employment lifecycle. This position serves as the first point of contact for employees and front-line managers, providing Human Resources guidance, coaching, and support while executing key HR programs and initiatives.

This position is responsible for executing HR strategic vision and initiatives through exceptional service, operational excellence, process improvement, and employee support.

All applicants should demonstrate an understanding of, and commitment to, hunting as an essential part of biologically sound and ethically responsible international wildlife management. The ideal candidate will have an existing knowledge of SCI’s current programs and mission and be passionate about hunter’s rights.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the organization's primary Employee Liaison and first point of contact for employees and front-line managers regarding Human Resources policies, procedures, employment matters, and day-to-day HR support.
  • Coordinate and administer the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, employee development, employee relations, leaves of absence, and offboarding.
  • Partner with hiring managers throughout the recruitment process, including job postings, candidate communications, interviews, employment offers, onboarding, and new hire integration.
  • Coach and support front-line managers on employee relations, performance management, documentation, policy interpretation, and routine workplace issues, escalating complex matters to the Director of Human Resources as appropriate.
  • Administer employee leaves of absence, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, military leave, workers' compensation leave, personal leave, and other protected leaves by coordinating required documentation, employee and manager communications, return-to-work processes, and compliance with applicable laws and company policies.
  • Conduct or assist with employee investigations, corrective action, and other employee relations matters while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Coordinate employee training and development initiatives, including new hire orientation, manager training, learning management administration, and ongoing development programs.
  • Design, write, and distribute employee communications, including the monthly employee newsletter, bulletin board communications, organizational announcements, and other employee engagement materials; coordinate employee wellness and engagement initiatives that promote a positive workplace culture.
  • Prepare, process, and maintain Human Resources documentation throughout the employee lifecycle, including employment documentation, personnel actions, leave records, policy acknowledgments, performance documentation, and personnel files while ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance.
  • Maintain HRIS records and support the integrity of employee data, organizational records, and Human Resources reporting.
  • Serve as backup for payroll processing, benefits administration, and other critical Human Resources operational functions.
  • Coordinate workplace safety initiatives, workers' compensation administration, OSHA compliance activities, and related documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve Human Resources processes, enhance the employee experience, and increase operational efficiency while recommending practical, business-focused solutions.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Human Resources to implement strategic HR initiatives, organizational improvements, and departmental priorities, contributing ideas while successfully executing established direction.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. Attends meetings, other conventions, and trade shows as appropriate to maintain professional contacts and/or represent SCI.

Qualifications

  • The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a Business, Communications, or a related field
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible Human Resources experience.
  • PHR or SHRM certification preferred
  • Experience in leadership preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws and Human Resources best practices.
  • Ability to travel within the United States as business needs require.
  • Valid driver’s license with ability to be insurable on SCI policy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting a multi-state workforce.
  • Experience supporting international employees or global employment practices.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now strongly preferred.
  • Experience with learning management systems and performance management platforms preferred.
  • Experience supporting workplace safety and workers' compensation programs.
  • Hunters preferred.
