Position Overview

As a Grade Two Teacher, you will have the opportunity to shape young minds during a critical developmental period. You’ll establish foundations in literacy, numeracy, and social development while fostering a love of learning in your students. Our supportive administration ensures you have the resources and autonomy to create an engaging, effective classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish appropriate instructional goals aligned with Maine Learning Results and Maine Indian Education curriculum
  • Create engaging instructional plans that accommodate diverse learning styles
  • Monitor student understanding and adjust teaching approaches to ensure all students succeed
  • Maintain a positive classroom culture built on mutual respect and care
  • Implement effective assessment strategies to monitor progress and inform instruction
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians
  • Collaborate with fellow educators and staff to enhance student learning
  • Continuously improving professional skills and knowledge
  • Integrate technology effectively into classroom instruction
  • Honor and incorporate Penobscot culture, language, and perspectives into classroom learning

Qualifications

  • Maine Department of Education certification as a teacher
  • Valid State of Maine Criminal History Records Check Approval
  • Experience or interest in culturally responsive teaching practices
  • Passion for elementary education and child development
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment
