Web Developer

About the Opportunity:

The Web Developer will develop and test web applications, databases, and interfaces. This role includes designing or configuring web layouts, functionality, and navigation for the organization’s websites or portals. The developer will ensure compatibility and usability across various web browsers and electronic devices. Using web standards for accessibility, the role involves analyzing user metrics to optimize marketability and search engine performance. The developer may also design and test interfaces for intra-company interactions focusing on aesthetics, design, and usability.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain the organization’s intranet portal and websites or portals for wholly owned subsidiaries using content creation tools and digital media

• Develop databases supporting web applications and websites

• Evaluate code for validity, structure, and compatibility across browsers, devices, and operating systems

• Collaborate with management and team members to prioritize needs, resolve conflicts, and improve content or solutions

• Perform Help Desk duties involving direct communication with end users to assist in troubleshooting

• Develop and implement procedures for ongoing website revisions and updates

• Clearly articulate website specifications including features, software, functionality, programming languages, and hardware or software requirements

• Perform code reviews and participate in code releases per standard operating procedures

• Assist in server maintenance and setup; participate in evaluating and recommending server hardware or software

• Design, implement, and maintain security measures such as firewalls and message or content encryption

• Perform regular work remotely during scheduled or agreed-upon times

• Complete other duties as assigned and necessary

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in Computer Science, web design, or related field preferred. Two years or more of direct experience may substitute for degree

• Proficient in PHP (object-oriented PHP 5/7), JavaScript (ES5 \& ES6)/AJAX, HTML, CSS, Regular Expressions, Responsive Design, REST, SOAP, JSON, and XML

• Experience with MSSQL, MySQL, and other SQL database design and development; familiar with relational database structures

• Knowledge of Laravel Framework, Eloquent ORM, Angular Framework, Typescript, RxJS Library

• Familiarity with GitHub, Linux, VS Code, MVC framework; experience with MS 365, SharePoint, MS Azure, WordPress is helpful

• Ability to write test suites using PHPUnit; familiarity with behavioral testing libraries like Behat preferred

• Skilled at reading and interpreting legacy codebases and maintaining consistent coding styles

• Proficient in writing basic SQL statements (SELECT, UPDATE, INSERT, DELETE)

• Strong debugging and troubleshooting using tools such as Firefox, Chrome Inspector; ability to troubleshoot Safari

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to explain technical topics clearly and support users in troubleshooting

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with effective time management

• Ability to work independently using sound judgment, discretion, deductive and inductive reasoning; demonstrates active listening skills

• Commitment to ongoing learning of web technologies and programming practices through education and professional development
