Position:
Electrical Engineer
Primary Report to:
Information \& Control Manager
Primary Supervision of:
None
Required Qualification:
High School Diploma or equivalent experience. Prefer B.S. in Electrical Engineering directed toward the electrical power discipline with minimum 5 years electrical industrial maintenance experience. Working knowledge of electrical power/distribution systems required.
Responsibilities / Key Activities
- Investigate, design, specify and recommend changes in electrical equipment component design, installation, and repair methods to reduce risk of failure, increase operating life and decrease operating costs.
- Investigate equipment failures, determine the root cause and recommend solutions to prevent their recurrence.
- Provide technical reviews/expertise on equipment and engineering specifications, or design changes to electrical equipment, to ensure overall plant safety and quality objectives are met.
- Help to ensure that all electrical changes and activities follow all existing and current national, local and plant electrical codes.
- Overall responsibility for the development and maintenance of an electrical integrity program. This includes documented and published procedures/guidelines for programs such as the motor PM program, transformer oil testing, transformer painting, electrical switching, switchgear maintenance, electrical feeder testing, protective relay coordination and load flow studies, thermographic inspections, cathodic inspections, etc.
- Provide electrical support for capital projects as assigned by the Engineering Department.
- Monitor electrical jobs involving hot work.
- Conduct monthly MCC audits.
- Develop repair procedures for equipment as needed.
- Participate in the planning and execution of outages.
- Understand and adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Other duties as required.
