Role Description

The Bilingual Teacher is a full-time, on-site role based in Washington, DC. This educator designs and delivers standards-aligned, expeditionary lessons in two languages, integrating sustainability and global citizenship into daily instruction. Responsibilities include planning and implementing engaging units, differentiating instruction to meet diverse learning needs, assessing student progress, and providing timely feedback. The teacher collaborates with grade-level and specialist teams, communicates regularly with families, and contributes to a nurturing classroom environment that supports students’ social, emotional, and academic development. The role also involves participating in professional development, school events, and initiatives that strengthen the bilingual and sustainability-focused mission of Mundo Verde.

Qualifications

• Strong Teaching and Education skills, with experience in bilingual or dual-language instruction.
• Proficiency in Lesson Planning and curriculum design, ideally within expeditionary or project-based learning frameworks.
• Effective Communication skills in English and Spanish, including clear communication with students, families, and colleagues.
• Experience in Training, mentoring, or collaborating with peers to improve instructional practices.
• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications are a plus.
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching.
• Ability to create inclusive, student-centered classrooms that support social-emotional learning and academic rigor.
• Previous experience in urban public or charter school settings and interest in environmental sustainability are highly beneficial.
