Summary:

The Business Intelligence Analyst I plays a foundational role in supporting data-driven decision-making across the organization. This entry-level position is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and visualizing data to uncover trends, monitor performance, and support strategic initiatives. Working closely with senior analysts and business stakeholders, the Analyst contributes to the development of reports, dashboards, and insights that enhance operational efficiency and business outcomes.

Critical Job Expectations:

As a member of the Business Intelligence (BI) Team, the Business Intelligence Analyst I is expected to deliver accurate and timely data that informs business decisions. This includes assisting in the development of dashboards, validating data sources, and supporting ad hoc analysis requests. The Analyst must demonstrate accountability by meeting deadlines and maintaining data integrity, while also showing innovation by identifying opportunities to improve reporting processes. Integrity is essential in handling sensitive information and ensuring ethical standards are upheld. The role requires effective communication, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Functional

  • Designs and maintains recurring and ad-hoc reports using tools such as Power BI or Excel aligning it with telco business goals and metrics.
  • Extracts, transforms and loads data from defined sources using standard queries and reporting tools while ensuring the accuracy of data to reflect timely and current business information.
  • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to identify business intelligence, reporting, and data analysis needs, while fulfilling ad-hoc data requests and proactively developing solutions to reduce recurring inquiries.
  • Reviews and validates report outputs to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness; delivers reports in line with defined timelines.
  • Maintains and optimizes data pipelines to support scalable and efficient reporting processes and provides data summaries and visualizations to support stakeholder discussions.
  • Develops and maintains documentation for report logic, data sources, and business definitions.
  • Participates in project milestones focused on data-related tasks such as data mapping and dataset creation.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Excel knowledge and demonstrates basic familiarity with Power BI, SQL, and other analytical tools, sufficient for performing fundamental data extraction and manipulation tasks.
  • Maintains and supports database management platforms, including SharePoint lists, Excel, and SQL Server.
  • Identifies issues in existing reports or reporting processes and recommends basic improvements to enhance accuracy or usability.
  • Conducts regular audits of identity and access data to ensure accuracy and integrity and enforces compliance with internal data standards and governance policies.
  • Prepares basic PowerPoint presentations to support stakeholder needs, applying standard formatting and incorporating charts or visuals to communicate data findings.

Organizational

  • Collaborate effectively with Strategic Data \& Information Technology teams to support on-going projects and enhance the functionality of database systems.
  • Obtain and analyze both quantitative and qualitative data from business processes to inform, determine, and promote data-driven decisions.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required to support team and organizational objectives.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Basic understanding of telecommunications business metrics (e.g., NPS, FCR, AHT/CRT and other network KPIs).
  • Familiarity with data structures, reporting workflows, and BI lifecycle.
  • Awareness of data governance principles, including privacy, compliance, and access control.
  • Knowledge of standard reporting tools and platforms (e.g., Power BI, Excel, SQL).
  • Ability to create and maintain reports and dashboards using Power BI and Excel.
  • Skills in extracting, cleaning, and transforming data from various sources.
  • Capability to interpret data trends, variances, and provide descriptive summaries.
  • Able to work effectively with large data repositories and/or relational databases.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changes in both technology and business environments.
  • Clear and concise presentation of data findings to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain report logic and source documentation for traceability.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and respond effectively to stakeholder requests.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed with keen attention to detail.
