Position Summary
The Business Development Representative (BDR) is responsible for generating new business opportunities, cultivating relationships with prospective clients, and supporting company growth through proactive outreach and strategic engagement. As the first point of contact for many
prospects, the BDR serves as a brand ambassador, identifying qualified opportunities and helping
build a strong sales pipeline.
This role requires a self-motivated, goal-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced
environment and enjoys connecting with business owners, identifying their needs, and creating
opportunities for long-term partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
Prospecting \& Business Development
- Conduct high-volume outbound prospecting through phone calls, email campaigns, LinkedIn, networking, referrals, and other sales channels.
- Research target markets and identify qualified prospects using CRM systems, AI tools, Google, industry databases, and social media.
- Develop and maintain a consistent pipeline of qualified opportunities.
- Generate self-sourced leads while effectively managing company-provided leads.
- Work closely with Business Development team Lead Qualification
- Conduct mini discovery conversations to understand prospective clients' business goals, challenges, and insurance needs.
- Qualify prospects based on established criteria and accurately document findings within the CRM.
- Schedule appointments and hand off qualified opportunities to the appropriate sales representative or leadership team.
Relationship Management
- Build trust and establish professional relationships with prospects through consistent followup and consultative conversations.
- Maintain ongoing communication with prospects throughout the sales process.
- Represent the company with professionalism and integrity in all interactions.
Market Research
- Stay informed on industry trends, competitor activity, market conditions, and emerging business opportunities.
- Identify niche markets and strategic opportunities to support company growth initiatives.
- Provide market feedback and insights to leadership.
Collaboration
- Partner with Sales, Marketing, Mergers \& Acquisitions, Franchise Development, and Leadership teams to align outreach strategies.
- Communicate prospect activity, pipeline updates, and market intelligence consistently.
- Participate in team meetings, coaching sessions, and ongoing professional development.
Performance Expectations
- Meet or exceed established KPIs for outbound calls, lead generation, appointments, qualified opportunities, and pipeline activity.
- Demonstrate initiative by remaining productive during downtime through prospect research, list building, follow-up, and pipeline development.
- Maintain accurate CRM documentation and activity tracking.
- Consistently demonstrate accountability, professionalism, and a solutions-oriented mindset.
Required Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in business development, inside sales, insurance sales, or a related customer-facing role.
- Property \& Casualty insurance experience preferred.
- Active Property \& Casualty license preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Experience using CRM platforms such as Salesforce, Go High Level (GHL), or similar systems.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to research prospects and develop strategic outreach campaigns.
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and AI productivity tools.
