Buyer 1, Supply Chain \& Purchasing
to join our team in Farmington Hills, MI.
In this role, you'll manage a group of commodities, partnering closely with internal experts to support sourcing initiatives, cost reduction efforts, and project management activities. You'll analyze data and provide actionable recommendations, assist managers and buyers with strategic planning, and track and report monthly progress on sourcing activities, savings, and process improvements.
The role also involves coordinating with internal teams and suppliers to ensure required documentation and data are in place, validating system data for accurate reporting, and preparing timely, accurate presentations as needed.
A Day in the Life

- Negotiate and establish commodity pricing while supporting cost-reduction goals.
- Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans, including supplier comparisons and selection.
- Partner with internal stakeholders (engineering, end users, client groups) to align on requirements and specifications.
- Manage contracts, purchase orders, and cost changes for assigned commodities.
- Plan, track, and validate cost-reduction initiatives and savings.
- Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure contract compliance and resolve quality, cost, and delivery issues, while maintaining accurate purchasing data and reporting progress toward goals.
Who We're Looking For
Required:
- 0-2 years of related experience in a professional business atmosphere.
- Bachelor's degree in a business major (i.e. Finance, SCM, Marketing) or related discipline (i.e. Engineering).
- Consider equivalent related college or technical courses, seminars and in-house classroom training.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to work on-site in Farmington Hills, MI with minimal travel.
