Buyer

Johnson Service Group is looking for a Buyer for our Contract Manufacturing Client in San Jose. The Buyer reports to the Purchasing Manager and is responsible for reviewing, evaluating, and processing purchase requisitions. This role ensures timely procurement of materials and services while maintaining supplier relationships, managing order accuracy, and supporting production needs within a fast-paced contract manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Review and process purchase requisitions for accuracy, specifications, and authorization
• Manage and resolve discrepancies related to receiving, accounts payable, and non-conforming materials
• Establish and maintain supplier relationships; negotiate pricing and payment terms (Net 30/60/90)
• Ensure purchase orders are confirmed, accurate, and delivered on schedule
• Maintain integrity and accuracy of all purchase orders within the ERP system
• Develop new supply sources when existing vendors do not meet quality, cost, or delivery requirements
• Coordinate service and material requirements with internal teams
• Track and follow up on delinquent or late purchase orders

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
• Minimum of three (3) years of Buyer experience in an NPI contract manufacturing environment (PCBA and mechanical assemblies)
• Strong understanding of electronic manufacturing services (EMS) and NPI processes
• Proven negotiation and supplier management skills
• Knowledge of ISO procedures and quality documentation practices
• Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access)
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to multitask
• Self-motivated, dependable, and able to manage time effectively
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact across all levels of the organization
• High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information

Salary starting at $85k DOE
