Job Description

About Cognee

Cognee is building the AI memory engine for agents to adapt and learn from feedback. We are building a developer tool for engineers and data scientists to create agentic systems that work in critical workflows, at scale. Our open-source Python SDK runs 2,000,000\+ times per month, is used in production at 70\+ companies, has reached 17\.2k\+ GitHub stars, and has hit GitHub trending several times.

We recently raised a $7\.5m seed round from Pebblebed Ventures in San Francisco, founded by the founding engineers of OpenAI and the Facebook AI research lab. We are now entering a period of high growth and are looking for technical builders who want to work at the frontier of AI infrastructure.

You'll join a small, driven team in Berlin working on one of the most important problems in AI: how agents can remember, reason, adapt, and improve over time.

Role Overview

As an

AI Engineer Workingstudent

, you will build small, high-quality proof-of-concept applications with Cognee's open-source memory engine.

Your work will sit at the intersection of engineering, research, product, and technical storytelling. You will explore the newest developments in AI, identify relevant use cases, build working demos with Cognee, and turn them into public-facing technical content.

This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys building fast, learning quickly, and translating technical ideas into clear examples that developers, founders, and AI teams can understand.

You will not just write internal code. You will help shape how people think about AI memory, agents, and the future of AI applications.

What You'll Do

  • Build small proof-of-concept applications using Cognee's open-source Python SDK
  • Explore current AI trends, new model capabilities, agent frameworks, and emerging developer workflows
  • Identify promising use cases where memory, knowledge graphs, retrieval, and feedback loops can improve AI systems
  • Create demos that show how Cognee can be used in real-world agentic applications
  • Write technical blog posts, tutorials, and walkthroughs explaining what you built and why it matters
  • Turn demos into public-facing marketing and developer content for GitHub, X, LinkedIn, Hacker News, and other channels
  • Work closely with engineering, product, and growth to translate technical experiments into clear product narratives
  • Help improve documentation, examples, and onboarding materials for developers using Cognee
  • Test new ideas quickly, document learnings, and suggest improvements to the product based on what you build

Requirements

Here is what we'd like you to bring to the table

  • Currently studying or recently completed a degree in computer science, AI, data science, engineering, mathematics, or a related technical field
  • Strong Python skills and comfort working with APIs, SDKs, notebooks, and developer tools
  • Interest in LLMs, AI agents, RAG, vector databases, knowledge graphs, and AI infrastructure
  • Ability to build small but polished technical demos independently
  • Strong written communication skills and interest in explaining technical concepts clearly
  • Curiosity about the newest developments in AI and the ability to quickly turn ideas into working prototypes
  • High-agency mindset: you do not wait for perfectly defined tasks, you explore, build, and improve
  • Experience with GitHub and basic software engineering workflows
  • Bonus: experience with LangChain, LlamaIndex, MCP, OpenAI APIs, Anthropic APIs, Hugging Face, Next.js, or similar tools
  • Bonus: previous technical writing, open-source contributions, hackathon projects, or AI side projects

Benefits

Why you should come work at Cognee in Berlin

  • You will work directly at the frontier of AI infrastructure, building demos around the newest developments in agents and memory
  • Your work will be public-facing and visible to developers, founders, investors, and AI teams
  • You will learn how a high-growth, venture-backed AI infrastructure startup operates from the inside
  • You will work with a small technical team where your ideas can quickly become real projects
  • You will help shape the narrative around AI memory, agentic systems, and the next generation of AI applications
  • You will work from our office in Kreuzberg, including free lunches and a strong in-person team culture
  • You will get access to the San Francisco AI ecosystem and a network of engineers, founders, and researchers working on frontier AI
