Overview

The IT, Software Engineer 1 designs, modifies, develops, writes, and implements software programming applications. This role involves supporting and installing software applications and operating systems, participating in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing, and certification of software. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Collaborate with YSM faculty, school leadership, and departmental teams to engineer a clear understanding of data and business needs. Build and present reports and analyses that support informed decision‑making and expand self-service data access.
  • Manage and maintain data pipelines that support timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting. Design and develop custom and ad-hoc reports that are well-structured, intuitive, and enable users to answer questions through self-service tools.
  • Support data preparation for annual surveys and compensation analyses. Partner with departmental business offices to collect, validate, and engineer high-quality academic data with a focus on relevance, accuracy, and integrity.
  • Identify process inefficiencies and engineer improvements that streamline workflows, enhance productivity, and expand opportunities for self-service reporting and analysis.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the academic organizational structure and its associated data domains, including demographics, compensation, clinical metrics, grants and contracts, and research space.

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience

Principal Responsibilities

  • Develops software solutions to meet customer requirements through team and individual efforts. 2\. Participates in the analysis and composition of requirements, design of architectural and component software features, design and implementation of system, design and implementation of test plan, and documentation of final product. 3\. May review code, write documentation, following established test procedures. Required Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree and no experience or equivalent education and experience. Skills and Abilities Analytical and problem-solving skills. Interpersonal, written, communications and organizational skills. Familiarity with basic systems analysis methods and techniques. Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a field.
