Summary
The Electrical Engineer II is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and improving machine control systems to enhance safety, reliability, efficiency, and product quality. This role combines day-to-day operational support with project-based engineering activities, requiring strong expertise in industrial controls, automation systems, and electrical design. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, analytical, and capable of supporting both maintenance and capital improvement initiatives within a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot machine control systems, identify root causes, and implement sustainable corrective actions
- Recommend and execute improvements that enhance safety, reliability, production efficiency, and product quality
- Develop, modify, and support PLC and HMI applications utilizing Siemens and Rockwell platforms
- Support the design, installation, startup, and commissioning of new and upgraded control systems
- Diagnose and troubleshoot AC/DC electrical systems, control circuits, and power distribution equipment
- Maintain and support field devices including motors, drives, relays, sensors, switches, and photoelectric devices
- Design, develop, and maintain instrumentation and control systems to support manufacturing operations
- Create and maintain electrical schematics and engineering documentation using Electrical CAD tools
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on automation, reliability, and standardized programming practices
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to support plant objectives and resolve technical issues
- Manage priorities effectively and respond to production needs in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Support capital projects and equipment upgrades from concept through implementation
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field required
- Minimum of 3 years of electrical engineering experience within a manufacturing environment
- Experience supporting industrial controls and automation systems
- Working knowledge of power distribution systems, industrial networks, PLCs, HMIs, and variable frequency drives
- Proficiency with Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000, AutoCAD Electrical, and SKM software
- Ability to read, interpret, and develop electrical schematics and technical drawings
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and root cause problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of electrical safety standards including NFPA 70E, NEC, and OSHA 1910
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with operators, technicians, engineers, and leadership
- Demonstrated sense of ownership, accountability, and urgency
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
