About the Opportunity

Mapei is looking for a

QC Chemist

to join our

Brisbane

team. The person will be responsible for safely and efficiently performing all necessary tests and inspections on the raw materials and products at specified stages in production process, in order to determine variables, such as dimensions, performance, chemical and physical properties and other characteristics.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Organise retained samples, collecting and checking documents for incoming materials
  • Document data obtained during testing of raw materials or finished products and log in QC record
  • Ensure that laboratory equipment is well maintained and calibrated as per schedule
  • Assist Technical Services in the investigation and verification of complaints due to finished products
  • Participate in all quality activities, such as preparation and testing of lab batches, investigation of non-comformities, evaluation of alternative raw materials, preparation of various certificates
  • Generation of rework formulations and recycle directions
  • Maintain a clean, safe and tidy work environment by properly identifying identifying and storing ingredients, supplies and productions, using various hand tools and equipment such as push brooms, mopes, floor sweepers, cleaning chemicals, trash receptacles etc.
  • Lead by example in fostering a positive, productive working relationship with other departments.

What You Bring

  • Must possess science related qualifications, preferably in chemistry
  • Minimum 3 years quality control or laboratory experience
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently and harmoniously with others
  • A high level of both written and verbal communication skills
  • Well-developed planning, organising, and time management skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise, ensuring deadlines are met
  • A systems and continuous improvement mindset
  • Developed problem solving skills
  • Ability to build rapport with both your colleagues and the wider business.
