An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Data Scientist to join a leading consulting and technology organisation supporting high-profile defence and government programmes. This role offers the chance to work on cutting-edge AI/ML initiatives, predictive analytics projects and advanced modelling solutions that directly support critical decision-making.
This position is ideal for someone with strong Python skills, a solid foundation in data science and machine learning, and an active Secret clearance who is looking to further develop their career in a mission-driven environment.
The Role
As a Data Scientist, you'll support the development and deployment of AI and machine learning solutions across a range of strategic projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting in the development of AI and machine learning models
- Conducting exploratory data analysis and identifying actionable insights
- Cleaning, transforming and preparing data for analysis and modelling
- Supporting feature engineering and predictive model development
- Creating dashboards, reports and visualisations for stakeholders
- Automating workflows and processes using Python-based scripting
- Supporting the deployment of models into cloud-based environments
- Collaborating on simulation, modelling and wargaming initiatives
- Documenting development processes and maintaining code repositories
- Presenting findings and recommendations to project teams and leadership
About You
We're looking for candidates who are analytical, curious and eager to expand their expertise within AI and machine learning.
You'll ideally have:
- An active and maintained Secret Federal or DoD Security Clearance
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or another STEM discipline
- Strong Python programming skills
- Experience working with structured datasets
- Knowledge of machine learning principles and techniques
- Experience with SQL and data manipulation
- Familiarity with Jupyter Notebooks
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
Desirable experience includes:
- AWS or Azure cloud platforms
- Git and version control best practices
- Data visualisation tools and libraries
- Matplotlib, Seaborn or similar visualisation frameworks
- Data engineering concepts and workflows
- DevSecOps principles
- Apache Spark or big data technologies
- Predictive analytics and optimisation techniques
- DoD data governance standards
