Assistant Project Manager

About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager to support large-scale commercial construction projects across the Chicago market. This individual will work closely with senior project leadership to help manage projects from preconstruction through closeout while gaining exposure to all phases of project delivery.

This is an opportunity to join one of Chicago’s most respected general contractors with a strong pipeline of complex, high-profile work across healthcare, commercial, multifamily, higher education, and interiors markets.

Key Responsibilities

• Support Project Managers with budgeting, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and project execution
• Assist with RFIs, submittals, change orders, meeting minutes, and project documentation
• Coordinate with clients, architects, engineers, field teams, and subcontractors
• Track project costs, schedules, and procurement activities to help ensure successful delivery
• Help maintain project quality, safety, and compliance standards
• Participate in project meetings and assist with progress reporting
• Support project closeout activities and turnover documentation

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
• 2–5 years of commercial construction experience preferred
• Strong understanding of construction processes and project documentation
• Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, or similar construction software preferred
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Motivated to grow into a Project Manager role long term
