Our resort client is seeking an experienced Director of Sales to lead leisure and group sales initiatives while driving revenue growth, market share, and long-term client relationships. Position Summary
The Director of Sales is responsible for maximizing resort revenue through strategic sales initiatives, account management, and business development, with a primary focus on the leisure segment. This leader will oversee key sales strategies, mentor and develop the sales team, and partner closely with the Director of Sales \& Marketing to achieve revenue goals and strengthen market presence.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Director of Sales \& Marketing to develop and execute strategic sales and marketing initiatives that maximize revenue.
- Lead proactive sales efforts to grow leisure and group business while expanding market share.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key accounts and identify new business opportunities.
- Coach, mentor, and support the sales team to achieve individual and departmental goals.
- Create strategic sales plans, promotional packages, and targeted initiatives to increase occupancy during need periods.
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and account planning activities.
- Monitor production, revenue performance, and market trends to identify opportunities for growth.
- Maintain appropriate group rate strategies and ensure revenue optimization.
- Conduct weekly one-on-one meetings with Sales Managers and facilitate monthly departmental meetings.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with resort leadership to deliver exceptional client experiences and resolve complex issues.
- Represent the resort at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities.
- Ensure timely completion of reports, administrative functions, and sales documentation.
- Exceed monthly room night production goals and contribute to achieving overall resort revenue objectives.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on professional development and exceptional service.
Qualifications
- Minimum of five years of progressive group or leisure sales experience within a full-service luxury hotel or resort environment.
- Previous leadership experience managing sales professionals preferred.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Demonstrated success developing strategic sales plans that drive revenue growth.
- Strong background in account management, business development, and client relationship management.
- Excellent presentation, negotiation, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Strong financial acumen, budgeting, forecasting, and analytical skills.
- Self-motivated, collaborative leader with exceptional organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Work Environment
- Office environment within a luxury resort setting.
- Up to 25% travel required.
- Ability to remain seated and work at a computer for extended periods.
