Job Description
At Altumatim, we believe that in legal proceedings, whoever tells the best story wins. We’ve built altumatimOS, the world’s first self-learning, story-driven, eDiscovery and investigation platform designed to transform how legal professionals analyze complex data. We help attorneys find the "smoking gun" in hours, not months.
We are looking for a highly motivated Junior Python Developer with a passion for Artificial Intelligence to join our engineering team. If you are eager to build cutting-edge legal tech and want hands-on experience working with LLMs, data pipelines, and AI orchestrators, we want to talk to you.
The Role
As a Junior Python Developer, you will work closely with our senior engineers and data scientists to build, test, and deploy the features that power altumatimOS. You will get your hands dirty writing clean code, integrating AI models, and helping us scale our "Super Agent" architecture to handle massive amounts of complex legal data.
Key Responsibilities:
- Backend Development:
Write, test, and maintain robust Python code for our core platform and APIs.
- AI Integration:
Assist in implementing and fine-tuning AI models, working with large language models (LLMs), and optimizing prompts for our story-based AI engine.
- Data Processing:
Help build and maintain data pipelines that ingest, process, and analyze complex legal documents.
- Collaboration:
Participate in code reviews, brainstorm technical solutions, and work alongside Customer Success and Product teams to squash bugs and deploy new features.
Who You Are
- A Coding Enthusiast:
You love Python and take pride in writing clean, readable, and efficient code.
- AI-Curious:
You are fascinated by the current AI landscape. You’ve likely built your own side projects using APIs from OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar platforms.
- A Sponge for Knowledge:
You know you don't have all the answers yet, but you are a rapid learner who is eager to absorb mentorship from senior engineers.
- A Problem Solver:
You don't give up easily when a script fails; you dig into the documentation and figure out why.
Skills \& Experience
Required:
- Python Proficiency:
1-3 years of academic, personal, or professional experience coding in Python.
- AI/ML Fundamentals:
A solid understanding of how LLMs work and experience interacting with AI APIs.
- Version Control:
Comfortable using Git/GitHub for version control and collaborative development.
- Software Engineering Basics:
Familiarity with RESTful APIs, basic database management (SQL or NoSQL), and software testing principles. Experience with Elasticsearch.
Preferred (Bonus Points):
- AI Frameworks:
Exposure to tools like LangChain, LlamaIndex etc.
- Cloud Experience:
Basic familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
- Legal Tech Interest:
Any background or interest in the legal field or eDiscovery is a plus, though absolutely not required.
Education \& Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Equivalent professional experience will be strongly considered in place of formal education.
- Relevant certifications are a plus:
- Cloud certifications (AWS Certified Developer, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Developer).
- AI/ML certifications from cloud providers or other institutions.
Why Altumatim?
- Dynamic Environment:
We are a fast-paced startup where your contributions have a direct impact on the product and the company's trajectory.
- Great Culture:
Our employees are more than just coworkers; they are happy, collaborative team players who support one another.
- Innovation-First:
We don't build for demos; we build for the "lawyers in the trenches." You’ll be working with cutting-edge technology that is actively transforming the practice of law.
- Mission-Driven:
Join a team dedicated to Results. We are building AI that surfaces the most important facts; those that move the needle on any matter.
