Job Description
Position Summary
The HR Generalist is the operational backbone of ECN's HR function, owning the day-to-day work that keeps a 28 site, PE-backed clinical trial network running cleanly. This role partners closely with the Senior Director of HR to build and maintain the infrastructure, compliance, and employee experience across a distributed workforce spanning three time zones. The person in this seat is hands-on, organized, credible with managers and employees, and comfortable working in an environment where the HR function is actively being stood up.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end onboarding for new hires across all sites, ensuring a clean, welcoming, and compliant experience.
- Maintain and improve HR documentation, personnel files, and HRIS data integrity within ADP Workforce Now.
- Manage compliance tracking across federal, state, and multi-state requirements, with particular attention to California employment law.
- Serve as first point of contact for employee relations inquiries. Triage, document, and escalate appropriately.
- Administer benefits programs and support annual open enrollment.
- Partner with payroll on employee data changes, status updates, and cross-functional reporting.
- Support policy development, handbook maintenance, and rollout of HR communications across 28 sites.
- Contribute to HR reporting, metrics, and dashboards for leadership review.
- Build and deliver manager and employee-facing training and presentations on HR topics.
- Partner with the Senior Director of HR on special projects as the HR function continues to mature.
Qualifications
- 5\+ years of HR generalist experience across the core functions (onboarding, ER, compliance, benefits, HRIS).
- Experience supporting a multi-site or distributed workforce across multiple time zones.
- Demonstrated experience in multi-state employment compliance.
- Experience and advanced proficiency with ADP Workforce Now (WFN).
- Strong presentation and written communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Proficiency with ATS platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- PE-backed or portfolio company experience.
- Clinical research, healthcare, or life sciences industry experience.
- California employment law experience.
