Role Description

The Legal Assistant will support attorneys with day-to-day activities, including preparing and formatting legal documents, organizing case files, and maintaining accurate records and calendars. Responsibilities include managing correspondence, scheduling meetings and court appearances, coordinating with clients and external parties, and assisting with filing, service, and document production. The role involves conducting basic legal and factual research, proofreading documents for accuracy and consistency, and helping prepare materials for hearings, depositions, and transactions. This is a full-time, in-office role based in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in law and familiarity with legal procedures, with experience supporting attorneys as a Legal Assistant or in a comparable legal support role.
  • Proficiency in legal document preparation, including drafting, formatting, and organizing pleadings, contracts, and other legal materials.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, courts, and colleagues.
  • Demonstrated administrative assistance capabilities, including calendar management, file organization, data entry, and use of office productivity software.
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with legal practice management and document management systems is preferred.
  • Associate’s degree, paralegal or legal assistant certification, or equivalent experience in a law firm or legal department is beneficial.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
