Job Description

Overview

We are seeking a Materials \& Purchasing Specialist to support distribution and substation programs through procurement and lifecycle management of substation equipment and utility materials. This role requires experience within electric utility or EPC environments and a strong understanding of substation-related equipment, supplier coordination, and project material planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage procurement and purchasing activities for substation equipment supporting distribution utility projects
  • Coordinate sourcing, ordering, tracking, and delivery of materials including transformers, breakers, switchgear, relays, bus components, steel structures, and electrical equipment
  • Work closely with engineering, project management, construction, and warehouse teams to align material delivery with project schedules
  • Monitor inventory levels, long-lead equipment, vendor timelines, and material shortages to avoid project impacts
  • Track purchase orders, delivery schedules, equipment status, and supplier commitments across multiple projects
  • Support vendor coordination, quotation reviews, pricing analysis, and procurement documentation
  • Maintain accurate records related to material forecasting, procurement reporting, and inventory reconciliation
  • Assist with resolving supply chain issues, shipment delays, and equipment discrepancies

Qualifications

  • Electric utility or EPC experience supporting substation, transmission, or distribution programs
  • Experience purchasing or managing utility materials and substation equipment
  • Knowledge of substation components, electrical equipment, and utility construction workflows
  • Familiarity with procurement systems, ERP tools, inventory tracking, or material management platforms
  • Strong coordination skills with vendors, engineering teams, and construction stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple procurement schedules and prioritize long-lead materials across active projects
