Job Description
Position Summary
The Mechatronic Engineer supports plant automation by designing, maintaining, and improving control systems to ensure reliable and efficient production. This role troubleshoots PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and process sensors to reduce downtime, optimize system performance, and maintain high product quality from raw ingredients through final packaging.
Essential Job Functions
- Troubleshoot and support process sensors, including level and temperature sensors, VFDs, and printing machines
- Analyze, modify, and improve PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems; recommend and implement development actions
- Update and modify plant and electrical AutoCAD drawings
- Design, develop, and implement control systems (hardware \& software)
- Monitor performance indicators and support integration between control systems and company information systems
- Provide ongoing maintenance for process control systems, including troubleshooting programs, wiring, and components
- Write technical documentation including requirements, high‑level design, and system architecture specifications
- Upgrade or modify machinery, including ordering parts and managing schematics/blueprints
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automated Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline
- At least 1 year of experience with Allen‑Bradley PLCs, drives, HMI hardware/software
Preferred Qualifications
- AutoCAD certification
- 1 year of experience in PLC, SCADA, or HMI programming
- Experience reading and working with schematics/blueprints
Knowledge, Skills \& Abilities
- Understanding of process control systems and their impact on production and automation downtime
- Proficiency reading electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic drawings
- Knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems
- Understanding of electrical and mechanical manufacturing systems
- Familiarity with food processing operations and safety standards
- Ability to troubleshoot and maintain control systems
- Ability to design and modify electrical/control schematics (AutoCAD)
- Ability to analyze data and implement improvements
- Ability to work independently and manage automation‑related projects
- Adaptability to evolving technology and production needs
Environmental / Working Conditions
