Summary

The Plant Manager will lead and manage all aspects of metals manufacturing operations to exceed customer expectations. This role oversees key production departments—including programming, routing, cutting, bending, drilling, machining, rolling, material handling, packaging, shipping, and scheduling—while driving performance improvements across safety, quality, efficiency, scheduling accuracy, labor utilization, and scrap.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in manufacturing, process flow, scheduling, and people management
  • Ability to lead and manage a diverse, cross-functional team
  • Working knowledge of MRP/ERP methodology
  • Working knowledge of problem-solving methodology (including PDCA), quality systems, and safety programs
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing and 5 pillars
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Decisive and confident management style with a proven ability to drive intra-departmental cooperation and success
  • Ability to work independently and in a manufacturing environment
  • Must be flexible, adaptable, open to change, and willing to take on challenges as a team player
  • Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints
  • Must be able to perform basic shop math and use standard measuring devices
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand on hard surfaces (e.g., concrete) for long periods in hot or cold environments
  • Must be able to read and understand English
  • High school diploma required; 4-year college degree strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety operating procedures and best practices are in place and followed
  • Verify quality checks are executed and parts produced conform to drawings and defined standards
  • Plan, schedule resources, and supervise the production process
  • Oversee facility operations and maintenance to ensure compliance with applicable operating and safety standards and regulations
  • Develop and refine performance measures across production output, efficiency, scheduling accuracy, quality, safety, labor utilization, and scrap
  • Supervise and document performance of team leaders and support staff
  • Develop and implement approved operating plans
  • Identify and mitigate process inefficiencies to improve cost, quality, and delivery
  • Drive premium quality in all components produced
  • Ensure employees follow safety/security procedures and use equipment and materials properly
  • Ensure work orders are processed accurately through the MRP system
  • Lead continuous improvement and overall process improvements
  • Analyze and communicate best-practice work procedures to maximize efficiency and identify/mitigate hazards
  • Hire, counsel, and terminate personnel in concert with HR department and applicable U.S. laws
  • Perform other duties as assigned
