NYC STEM Club is a full-service educational services company based in NYC. Our goal is to provide quality education to middle and high school children while offering comprehensive support for navigating school and college admissions.

NYC STEM Club employs a unique approach to foster critical thinking and establish a strong foundation in Math and English Language Arts (ELA), essential for excelling in Science and Technology. Our primary focus is delivering quality education to elementary, middle, and high school students. We also provide Test Prep services encompassing State tests, SHSAT, ISEE/SSAT, as well as SAT and ACT, enabling students to secure placements in the best schools and colleges.

Teaching Position- Role Description

NYC Stem Club is looking to hire teachers and tutors to teach the English and Math Sections of competitive exams such as SHSAT, ISEE, SSAT, SAT and ACT prep at their Downtown location in New York City. Student instruction is provided via a combination of in-person and remote classes. We offer a fast-growing, start-up environment, and are looking for like-minded individuals to be part of the team. This is a Contract-to-hire position.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge and mastery of the topics being taught.
  • Review curriculum and devise alternate approaches to presenting lessons to increase student understanding.
  • Collaborate with other teachers to develop instructional strategies for students at all levels.
  • Teach and help in the development of grade-level and above curriculum to middle and high school students.
  • Conduct in-person classes at our facilities and remote classes via Zoom.
  • Develop and administer assessment tests for students.
  • Evaluate the academic performance of students and maintain records of academic performance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (minimum); Master's Degree (preferred).
  • 2 years or more experience working with students in a middle/high school or college environment.
  • 2 years or more experience in test prep
  • Ideal candidate must have scored 99th percentile on the SAT/ACT
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proven track record of improving test scores.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to conduct classes both in-person and via remote methods such as Zoom and Teams.
  • Experience with or familiarity with Google Classroom suite.

College Essay And Admissions Consulting - Role Description

We are seeking a dynamic and seasoned College Admissions Counselor to step into a senior role within our organization. As the Senior College Admissions Officer, you will oversee and optimize our college admissions guidance program, provide leadership and mentorship to junior admissions counselors, ensure high-quality support and guidance for students and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our students.

Responsibilities:

Strategy and Guidance:

  • Develop personalized strategies for high school students, including course selection, extracurricular involvement, impact projects and summer programs.
  • Offer expert guidance on building impactful resumes, selecting essay topics, and preparing for interviews.
  • Provide insights into the college admissions review process to enhance students' applications.
  • Conduct mock admissions interviews to improve students' interview skills.
  • Collaborate with students and families to establish realistic and attainable college goals.

School Selection and Application Review:

  • Assist students in identifying best-fit colleges and universities based on their academic strengths, interests, and career aspirations.
  • Review and evaluate college applications, and provide strategies to strengthen students' applications.
  • Stay updated on college admission trends, policies, and requirements to provide accurate guidance to students.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Conduct formal consulting sessions with students to track progress and address concerns.
  • Develop and deliver presentations and workshops on college admissions processes and strategies.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to create promotional materials for webinars and informational sessions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from a US university.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in an admissions office at a Top 30 US university, with expertise in recruitment, outreach, and application review.
  • Familiarity with college application processes, including the Common Application and financial aid procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience in delivering presentations and workshops.
  • Exceptional time management and resilience in high-pressure environments.
  • Experience with Naviance or similar college admissions software preferred.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related database applications.
