Job Description
Are you passionate about teaching legal research and legal technology skills essential to today’s practice of law? Do you enjoy partnering with faculty and students to support coursework, clinics, and scholarly research? We’re looking for a Legal Research and Instruction Librarian to deliver user-centered research instruction and high-level research support across the Law School community.
Why You’ll Love Working With Us:
At the Hugh and Hazel Darling Law Library we empower our community by enhancing the learning and research experience for the students, faculty, and staff of Chapman University’s Fowler School of Law.
Our last hire in this role has since stepped into a larger role on our team, and we're looking for the next person to grow here.
You’ll join a collaborative, service-driven team that values innovation, accessibility, and continuous improvement in research support and instruction.
What You’ll Do:
- Design, deliver, and improve legal research instruction across the curriculum.
- Teach advanced legal research, specialized research, and legal technology topics; coordinate and deliver topic-specific workshops aligned with institutional goals.
- Staff the Research Help Desk and provide high-level reference support, helping users identify and use legal resources.
- Conduct in-depth faculty research and produce written documentation of findings; consult with faculty on legal technology for teaching.
- Collaborate with librarians to create and maintain research and bibliographic tools and to expand library services and digital learning resources, with attention to accessibility, privacy, and information/data literacy.
If you’re excited about strengthening legal research and technology competencies and supporting the teaching and research mission of the Fowler School of Law, we’d love to hear from you. See the position information and apply at https://chapman.peopleadmin.com/postings/41182
