Forvis Mazars Executive Search is partnering with a long‑standing, independent, physician‑led dermatology practice to find a Practice Administrator. This practice has been serving Western North Carolina since 1965\. The practice provides comprehensive medical dermatology services and operates its main office in Asheville, NC, with 3 satellite clinics. The group includes five board‑certified physicians, supported by advanced practice providers and dedicated clinical and administrative staff.

Position Overview

The team is seeking an experienced Practice Administrator to lead the day‑to‑day business and operational management of the practice. This role is based on‑site in the Asheville main office and provides administrative oversight for all practice locations.

The Practice Administrator partners closely with physician leadership and is responsible for managing practice operations, financial performance, revenue cycle, payroll, HR, and vendor relationships. This is a hands‑on leadership role appropriate for an administrator who has successfully operated a small, independent physician practice.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations \& Leadership

  • Serve as the on‑site administrative leader based in the Asheville office
  • Oversee daily operations and staff performance across all locations
  • Standardize workflows, policies, and procedures
  • Support clinic scheduling, staffing efficiency, and patient flow
  • Act as primary liaison between physicians and administrative staff

Financial Management \& Accounting

  • Oversee practice accounting and financial operations
  • Manage budgets, expenses, and monthly financial reporting
  • Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management
  • Coordinate with external accounting and tax partners

Revenue Cycle \& Patient Payments

  • Oversee billing, coding, collections, and payer relationships
  • Manage patient payment processing, including point‑of‑service and online billing
  • Monitor reimbursement performance, denials, and aging reports

Payroll \& Human Resources

  • Manage payroll processing, timekeeping, and benefits administration
  • Oversee hiring, onboarding, employee relations, and personnel records
  • Ensure compliance with employment and labor regulations

Compliance, IT \& Vendor Management

  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and applicable healthcare regulations
  • Coordinate EHR, billing, and IT vendor support
  • Manage vendor contracts and service relationships

Facilities \& Multi‑Site Support

  • Oversee facility operations with primary presence in Asheville
  • Coordinate maintenance, supplies, and vendor services
  • Provide operational support and oversight to satellite locations

Qualifications / Requirements

Required

  • 5\+ years of experience in medical practice administration
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • Medical practice accounting and financial management
  • Revenue cycle operations and patient billing
  • Payroll and HR administration
  • Experience in a small, physician‑owned or independent practice
  • Ability to work on‑site in Asheville, NC

Preferred

  • Experience in dermatology or specialty physician practices
  • Multi‑location practice experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field
