Job Description
Privately owned chemical manufacturer is seeking a research and development chemist to join their team and formulate industrial coatings. If you have a degree in chemistry and a minimum of 5 years of industry experience, this could be a great opportunity for you! Duties:
- Development of new products under laboratory and sales projects and their implementation at the customer
- Product service and maintenance regarding
+ Optimization and development of formulations
+ Process optimization
+ Applications engineering
+ The consideration of environmental and occupational safety aspects
+ Efficiency optimization
+ Support in the correction and reprocessing of defective batches
+ Creation of color shades
+ Answering customer requests in coordination with the supervisor and the sales department
+ Measurement of color samples
+ Training of both staff members and customers
+ Measurement of standardizing coloring
+ Maintenance and calibration of measuring instruments
+ General administrative tasks in the lab
+ Initiate and review technical data sheets
+ Initiate and follow up of necessary actions regarding EHS compliance
+ Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
+ Requires flexibility and understanding that this position may be required to perform duties outside the duties listed above in order to meet the mission and goals of the company
Salary:
$70,000 - $80,000

Technical Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related
- Receive hazardous waste training within 6 months of initial employment and thereafter in accordance with the applicable provisions of R.62-79\.262\.17(a)(7)(ii), (iii) and (iv)(D) of the South Carolina Hazardous Waste Management Regulations (SCHWMR)
- 2\+ years of experience in coatings industry
- SAP experience is preferred
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft word, excel, outlook, and powerpoint
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
