Chief Financial Officer — Citrus County Rural Health, Inc. (CCRH)
Citrus County Rural Health, Inc. is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer to oversee the day-to-day financial activities of our health center and provide leadership to key management staff. This position reports directly to the CEO and may be performed remotely — candidates do not need to be local to Crystal River, FL.
The Chief Financial Officer directs the organization's financial planning and accounting practices, as well as its relationships with lending institutions and the broader financial community. This role oversees treasury, budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, purchasing, real estate, and insurance activities, and works closely with the Controller to maintain proper records, accounting controls, and financial services. The Chief Financial Officer appraises the organization's financial position, issues periodic financial and operating reports, consolidates cost accounting procedures alongside other statistical reports, and directs studies of general economic, business, and financial conditions to assess their impact on organizational policies and operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in the Health Center's long-term and short-term financial planning process
- Direct the development of accounting, admission, credit/collection, and internal control policies and systems
- Coordinate and control the Health Center's cash and investment management activities, including short-term cash activities aligned with established financial policies
- Prepare and file Medicare cost reports, Medicaid cost reports, and both Medicare and Medicaid wrap reports
- Process biweekly payroll
- Provide advice and guidance in preparing and analyzing financial reports and executing appropriate responsive actions
- Evaluate the adequacy of the Health Center's insurance coverage and assist in handling special or sensitive risk management cases
- Serve as a liaison between Health Center managers to coordinate planning efforts and address major issues
- Direct the Health Center's banks in executing cash management decisions and work with investment managers to coordinate fund transfers and monitor performance
- Recommend appropriate actions and strategies in response to projected economic trends and regulatory changes
- Analyze the financial implications of proposed capital projects and expenditures
- Advise department heads and managers on interpreting financial data and presenting information to the Board of Directors or CEO
- Evaluate data processing needs on an ongoing basis and adapt programs to changing requirements
- Ensure accurate, timely information is provided to facilitate external audits, examinations, and related financial projects
Professional Requirements:
- Maintain regulatory compliance with all state, federal, HRSA, and applicable accrediting body requirements
- Safeguard patient confidentiality at all times
- Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner
- Attend committee, CQI, and management meetings as appropriate
- Resolve personnel concerns at the departmental level, utilizing the grievance process when needed
- Ensure compliance with policies and procedures regarding department operations
- Effectively communicate administrative directives and encourage interactive meetings and discussions
- Communicate the mission, ethics, and goals of the Health Center and the focus statement of the department
- Comply with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices
- Complete annual education requirements and attend annual review and departmental in-services
- Adhere to dress code and wear identification while on duty
- Report to work on time and as scheduled
Qualifications:
- Degree in Accounting or Finance required
- Three to five (3–5) years of prior management experience in a health center or healthcare setting
- Experience with Medicare cost reports, Medicaid cost reports, and both Medicare and Medicaid wrap reports
- Experience processing biweekly payroll
- Thorough knowledge of accounting, finance, reimbursement, budgeting, and credit and collection as they relate to healthcare
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; additional languages preferred
- Basic computer proficiency
Location: Remote-friendly. This position can be performed remotely from anywhere in the U.S., though candidates local to Crystal River, FL are also welcome.
