Position Overview
The bank’s Chief Information Officer (CIO) role is a senior leader responsible for the strategic technology direction, digital transformation, and IT security of the bank. This role bridges the gap between technology and banking business goals, managing infrastructure, cybersecurity, and vendor relationships to enhance efficiency, customer experience, and compliance. The role requires strong leadership, strategic planning, business acumen, and excellent communication skills to manage the IT team, vendor relationships, and technology investments.
Key Responsibilities
- IT Strategy \& Digital Innovation:
Define the bank’s technology roadmap, leading digital transformation and driving innovation to maintain a competitive advantage.
- Cybersecurity \& Risk Management:
Build a robust security infrastructure and implement proactive risk assessment/data recovery strategies.
- Technology Operations:
Oversee day-to-day IT systems, software development, and hardware implementation to ensure stability and performance.
- Vendor \& Budget Management:
Manage IT vendor relationships and manage the technology budget, ensuring ROI on technology investments.
- Leadership and Team Development:
Guide, mentor, and develop high-performing IT teams.
- Compliance \& Governance:
Ensure all IT operations comply with banking regulations, policies, and data security standards. Assure periodic external audits are performed in compliance with information security standards.
- Stakeholder Communication:
Collaborate with executive leadership and other departments to ensure technology aligns with business goals.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Experience:
10\+ years in technology leadership, with experience in banking or financial services preferred.
- Technical Skills:
Deep understanding of software development, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, and data analytics.
- Leadership and Strategic Thinking:
Ability to lead and motivate teams, delegate tasks, and develop long-term technology strategies.
- Financial Management:
Experience in managing IT budgets, forecasting, and controlling costs.
- Project Management:
Skilled in overseeing large-scale system implementations and driving multiple projects to successful, on-time completion.
- Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
- Leadership:
Proven ability to lead large teams, manage budgets, and lead major, complex technology projects.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
Ability to clearly translate complex technical concepts, build strong relationships, communicate a compelling technology vision, and collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
