Technology plays a critical role in enabling LCEF to fulfill its mission of starting, sustaining, and strengthening LCMS ministries. The Chief Information Officer helps ensure that systems, data, and security not only support daily operations, but also create capacity for long‑term growth, innovation, and faithful stewardship.
The CIO helps translate mission into action by ensuring that technology empowers people to do their work with confidence and excellence. From safeguarding information to enabling smarter decisions through data, this role directly supports LCEF’s ability to serve ministries with integrity and care.
What You’ll Do
The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is a key member of the executive leadership team and provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for technology across the organization. This role ensures that technology, data, cybersecurity, and core enterprise systems support LCEF’s mission, operational excellence, and long‑term growth.
The CIO will:
- Develop and execute an enterprise‑wide technology strategy aligned with organizational goals and mission
- Lead technology functions including infrastructure and security, data and analytics, and core enterprise systems
- Partner with executive leadership to modernize systems, improve service delivery, and enable data‑driven decision making
- Ensure secure, resilient, and compliant technology operations in a financial environment
- Oversee cybersecurity strategy, risk management, and technology controls
- Promote a collaborative, service‑oriented culture across technology teams
- Build, lead, and develop high‑performing technology leaders and teams
- Manage technology investments, budgets, and vendor relationships
What You’ll Need
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field
- 10\+ years of progressive technology leadership experience, including responsibility for multiple technology functions
- Demonstrated success leading enterprise‑wide technology initiatives and modernization efforts
- Experience in financial services, banking, credit union, or other regulated industries preferred
- Strong ability to translate technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for non‑technical audiences
- Proven leadership, strategic thinking, and change‑management capabilities
- Relevant professional certifications preferred (e.g., CRISC, CISA, CISSP, CISM)
