Job Responsibilities
Leads the technology strategy for the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism and plays a key role in advancing the agency's mission through innovative, secure, and reliable IT solutions.
Job Purpose And Duties
Serves as the Director of Information Technology (Chief Information Officer). Leads and directs PRT’s Information Technology area providing stable, consistent and progressive technical support supporting the agency’s mission. Advise Central Office, State Parks, Welcome Center and other PRT’s departments on technology purchases, implementations and other related technology needs to include cyber security. Provides support, direction and advice for data, voice and wireless networks needs and systems, mobile devices, virtualization platforms, application and reporting needs, and PRT’s mail room operations. Manages and directs Network and Communications Services, Infrastructure and End User Services and Application and Reporting Services. Serves as an advisor to personnel on strategic uses of technology and a wide range of IT solutions and needs. Formulates policies and procedures as it relates to operational needs. Mentors and helps staff understand agency goals and how to archive them. Responsible for managing IT’s budgeting and procurement needs. Manages relationship with SC Department of Technology and outside vendors.

- Performs special functions as requested by the Agency Director and Chief of Staff.
- Practices and promotes teamwork within the work unit/office, throughout the agency and with external agency stakeholders. Represents office as an active member on agency teams assigned throughout the year.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
Bachelor's degree and six (6) years of responsible administrative and management experience. Knowledge of the principles and techniques of planning programs and work activities in a data processing environment. Ability to manage and provide guidance to employees. Ability to make presentations and prepare reports.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to plan and manage projects and meet deadlines. The incumbent must posses a valid SC driver's license. Position may require work beyond the 37\.5 hour work week, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Must carry a mobile communications device, if provided. Must be able to work during emergency/disaster events, including hazardous weather. Work may be required on-site or remote or a combination of both. Position will require some in-state travel, may require overnight travel.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written communications. Lifting up to 30 lbs.
- Must possess a valid SC Driver's License.

Actual Job Location: SCPRT Central Office
Monday-Friday, 37\.5 hours weekly.
