Job Description

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) serves as a strategic, hands-on executive leader responsible for shaping and executing the company’s technology vision and digital transformation strategy. This role ensures that technology operates as a competitive advantage within the specialty contracting industry by aligning IT initiatives with both business objectives and field operations. The CIO brings a practical, solutions-oriented approach to business challenges, effectively bridging the gap between office-based systems and field productivity. Reporting directly to the CEO, the CIO is a key member of the Senior Leadership Team and leads a high-performing team of IT professionals to drive innovation, operational efficiency, and scalable growth.

Roles \& Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership \& Construction Acumen

  • Develop and execute an IT strategy aligned with the full construction lifecycle, including project delivery and the 24/7/365 service business.
  • Champion an operations-first mindset by prioritizing technologies that improve productivity for field and project teams.
  • Serve as a Senior Leadership Team member, translating technology risks and opportunities into clear business outcomes tied to growth and profitability.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing IT organization with a hands-on, service-oriented leadership approach.
  • Oversee the Director of IT, infrastructure, support, programming, and data functions to ensure operational excellence and business impact.
  • Manage vendor relationships and contract negotiations for IT services and solutions.

ERP Management \& Systems Integration

  • Lead the planning and implementation of the company’s ERP system.
  • Drive integration of specialized tools and custom applications to create a single source of truth for financial and operational data.
  • Partner with internal programming resources to ensure scalable, effective system integration.

Change Management \& Innovation

  • Lead adoption of new technologies through effective communication, training, and change management across office and field teams.
  • Foster innovation through practical application of AI and custom tools that improve field efficiency and business performance.
  • Monitor emerging technologies to ensure the technology strategy remains resilient and forward-looking.

Cybersecurity \& Risk Management

  • Implement and maintain a robust cybersecurity framework to protect systems, data, and mobile endpoints.
  • Proactively manage cyber risks, including ransomware and compliance, across all operations.

Required Skills \& Experience

  • 10\+ years of IT leadership experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Business, Construction Management, or a related technical field or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, and high-level leadership experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to visit jobsites and regional offices to foster relationships and ensure technology tools meet the practical needs of the workforce
  • Desire and ability to become an owner.
  • Experience managing a multi-disciplinary team, including software developers, data analysts, and infrastructure professionals.
  • Demonstrated success in leading an ERP implementation and integrating ERP systems with developed and third-party applications.
  • Exceptional ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, from field foremen to the Board of Directors.
  • Proven ability to deploy and support mobile technology solutions for field-based employees in a multi-state environment.
  • Ability to speak the language of programmers (SQL,APIs, .NET) while maintaining a high-level business perspective.
  • Deep understanding of cybersecurity principles and asset protection strategies.
