Job Description
Lumira Search is partnered with a medtech start-up developing next-generation cardiovascular devices. Our client has two clinical-stage transcatheter heart valve programs and are engaged in a high-growth phase.
This is a pivotal moment for the company, having recently vertically integrated manufacturing and closing a large finance round, they are consolidating into a new purpose-built facility in the Philadelphia area and restructuring into focused product divisions, each with dedicated leadership and the backing of an in-house manufacturing and development organisation.
The Role:
We’re looking to recruit technical leader to head R\&D for the company's heart valve division. Think of this as leading a standalone valve start-up: you’ll act as the technical founder and CTO of the division, owning the development program end to end while building and leading a team of 5–10 engineers and scientists.
You’ll work alongside internal manufacturing, quality and regulatory functions, giving you the speed of a start-up with the infrastructure that most early-stage companies don’t have.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the technical strategy and execution of the clinical-stage surgical and transcatheter valve program
- Build, mentor and lead a high-performing R\&D team of 5–10 people
- Drive design, verification and validation activities through clinical and regulatory milestones
- Partner closely with quality, regulatory, operations and manufacturing to move the program toward commercialisation
- Shape the culture, processes and long-term roadmap of a newly formed division
What We’re Looking For
- 10–15 years of medical device R\&D experience, with strong experience in transcatheter heart valves
- Hands-on experience through one or more full product development cycles
- Proven people leadership and ready to step up
- Strong technical depth combined with the ability to set direction and make decisions in an early-stage environment
- Experience with polymer-based implants is a strong advantage
Why Join:
- A genuine founder-style leadership role with significant ownership and impact
- Competitive salary and benefits
- Relocation support available
- The chance to help bring a novel valve technology to patients
Location:
This role is fully on-site at in the Philadelphia metro area.
Title will be commensurate with experience, from Director to VP level to C-suite.
