Chief Technology Officer – Insurance Carrier

Overview

We are partnering with a high-growth US insurance carrier undergoing significant transformation, with strong backing, expanding product lines and increasing investment in technology. The business is at a key inflection point, looking to modernise its platform, embed AI capabilities and build a scalable, future-proof technology function. They are now seeking a CTO to lead this transformation and define the long-term technology vision.

The Role

  • Own and deliver the technology strategy, aligned to business growth and transformation objectives
  • Lead modernisation of core systems, architecture and data infrastructure across the organisation
  • Define and execute a clear technology roadmap, balancing short-term delivery with long-term

scalability

  • Drive AI enablement across underwriting, claims, pricing and operations
  • Build and lead high-performing engineering, data and platform teams
  • Partner closely with underwriting, operations and executive leadership to embed technology into core business processes
  • Evaluate and implement build vs buy decisions across core and adjacent systems
  • Establish best practices across engineering, security, governance and delivery

Profile

  • Proven CTO or senior technology leadership experience within insurance or closely related regulated industries
  • Strong track record leading transformation and modernisation of legacy environments
  • Experience implementing AI and data-driven capabilities into core workflows
  • Deep understanding of insurance systems (policy admin, claims, billing) and how they integrate
  • Experience building and scaling engineering and data teams
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to execute in high-growth environments

Qualifications

  • 15\+ years in technology leadership roles
  • Experience within a US carrier or large MGA environment strongly preferred
  • Track record delivering complex transformation programmes
  • Strong stakeholder management across executive and board level
  • US-based with flexibility to travel
