KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Vision, Leadership, Culture and Ways of Working:

  • Develop and execute a forward-thinking technology strategy that supports China growth ambitions while adhering to Global Tech guidelines.
  • Continuously refine and improve China technology roadmap to maintain relevance, impact and drive digital transformation to uplift consumer experience.
  • Creates strategic and operational plans that align with regional and global strategic plans, direction and ensures execution excellence through process discipline, accountability \& ownership.
  • Drives agile best practices in partnership with commercial teams. Builds a collaborative culture in line with values to ensure effective ways of working across multi-functional teams.
  • Delivers capability upgrade across the tech team, attracting high potential talent. Provides inspirational leadership to create a high performing team where people reach their full potential.
  • Contributes to the development of Global One-Tech Operating Model, optimizing shared capabilities within Group.
  • The Chief Information Officer, China manages about 20\+ subordinates, including Solution, DevOps, Enterprise Architecture and Data.

Technology

  • Collaborates with stakeholders to define what technology is required for China in line with the global architecture framework (as common as possible and as different as needed).
  • Designs, delivers and operates Digital and Data platforms \& services relevant to China market. Builds data capability to extract value from big data: strategy, framework and tech roadmap.
  • Coordinates with Global Tech Asia hub to guarantee the successful delivery and maintenance of core Enterprise IT applications (SAP, POS ...) and infrastructure to support the China business.
  • Ensures Architecture is scalable, flexible and aligned with global and regional standards to leverage solutions at the regional / global level where appropriate.
  • Enhancing resilience through cybersecurity strategy, security controls and governance processes. Develops and manages technology vendors and partner alliances and contracts.

PROFILE, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Profile

  • Min 3-5yrs successful CIO experience and 15\+ years’ work experience in a multi-national company in China.
  • Deep expertise in eCommerce, digital technologies and data (Engineering, Science). Experience in retail, FMCG, consumer/shopper facing businesses is a plus.
  • An outstanding leader with strong interpersonal skills who is a coach and listener to peers and team members. Self-motivated, resilient and able to take the initiative to drive successful outcomes.
  • Strong strategic thinker and visionary combined with transformation and executional ability in complex and high pace environments.
  • Business oriented, experienced in business analysis. Commercially minded and adept to make data-driven decisions on critical investments and using robust analysis.
  • Develops a strong relationship and close collaboration between tech and the commercial teams to drive business impact, revenue and profitability.
  • Outstanding vendor and partner relationship management skills, ability to negotiate to drive value for money solutions and successful business outcomes.
  • Fluent and effective communicator in spoken and written English and Chinese.

Skills \& Qualifications

  • Technical Mastery – particularly in the eCommerce domain to drive customer delight, revenue growth, cost savings. Ability to anticipate and prevent issues to minimize business disruption.
  • Communicating with Impact – ability to influence and enrol senior leadership, cross-functional stakeholders \& peers on the tech strategy \& vision.
  • Collaboration – proven ability to resolve conflicts to drive the best outcome for the business and organization across local, regional and global teams.
  • Organizational leadership - Ability to lead a team of 30-40 people and be able to motivate \& inspire them to deliver their best.
  • Learning Agility – learn the world of retail and beauty tech, bring the best practices from other regions \& companies to China.
  • Problem Solving – Can do attitude and ability to find innovative solutions to problems.
  • Financial Acumen – understanding of IT budget management, financial principles of Capex, Opex management.
  • Computer Science background (graduate/ post-grad), Management degree a bonus.
  • Conversant with Agile, AI/ML, CISM, PMP frameworks \& knowledgeable about ITIL, Service Operations principles (certifications not a must).
