POSITION SUMMARY

TransMedics is transforming organ transplantation through the Organ Care System (OCS), an innovative medical technology platform. Our Clinical Lab team supports research and study activities that contribute to advancing transplant science and improving patient outcomes.

The Clinical Lab Intern will receive structured safety training and assist laboratory staff with study preparation, data collection, and experiment execution. This role is designed to introduce students to the scientific method and provide foundational laboratory experience in a professional research environment. This internship is ideal for high school seniors with an interest in science and a desire to explore laboratory or healthcare-related career paths.

Hours:

24- 32 hours per week.

Responsibilities

This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

Laboratory Support

• Complete required laboratory safety training
• Assist staff with study setup and preparation
• Support data collection and documentation
• Assist with experiment execution under supervision
• Perform various laboratory organizational and support tasks

Learning \& Development

• Observe and participate in scientific study workflows
• Develop understanding of the scientific method and experimental design
• Learn the importance of documentation accuracy and responsibility in research
• Gain exposure to professional laboratory standards and safety culture

Team Collaboration

• Work alongside experienced laboratory staff
• Follow instructions carefully and ask questions when needed
• Maintain a professional and responsible presence in the lab environment

Management Responsibilities

This position does not have direct reports.

PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES

• General office environment where there is a significant amount of time at a desk, working on computers and reviewing documents. This requires the ability to sit for extended periods. They also may need to stand for meetings or when moving around the office.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Senior
• Enrolled in science-oriented coursework (Biology preferred)
• Strong interest in science and laboratory work
• Responsible, reliable, and detail-oriented
• Willingness to learn and follow safety protocols
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
