Cloud Decisions are supporting a growing Microsoft-focused cloud services business in the search for an Azure Cloud Architect.

This is a senior technical position offering the opportunity to take ownership of complex cloud and infrastructure projects across a diverse customer base. You'll work closely with customers to design, modernise and optimise Azure environments while acting as a trusted technical advisor throughout the project lifecycle.

The business delivers cloud transformation, managed services, infrastructure modernisation and Microsoft technology solutions to SME and mid-market customers across New Zealand and internationally.

This is an opportunity to join a highly capable technical team where architects are trusted to lead customer engagements, influence technical strategy and help shape customer outcomes rather than simply maintaining existing environments.

The Role

As an Azure Cloud Architect, you will be responsible for leading technical engagements across Azure, Microsoft 365 and hybrid infrastructure environments.

Key responsibilities include:

• Designing and delivering Azure-based solutions across infrastructure, platform and hybrid cloud environments
• Leading customer workshops, technical discovery sessions and architecture reviews
• Acting as the senior technical escalation point for complex cloud, infrastructure and identity challenges
• Driving Azure migration, modernisation and cloud transformation projects
• Providing architecture guidance across networking, security, governance and operational best practices
• Supporting pre-sales activities, solution design and technical proposals
• Working closely with technical leadership to influence cloud strategy and service development
• Establishing and maintaining architecture standards across customer environments

What We're Looking For

Essential Experience

• Strong Azure architecture experience with the ability to design end-to-end cloud solutions
• Deep knowledge of Microsoft 365, Entra ID and Intune
• Experience designing and implementing Conditional Access, identity governance and device security solutions
• Strong Windows Server and hybrid infrastructure background
• Solid understanding of networking concepts including DNS, VPNs, routing, hybrid connectivity and private networking
• Experience with storage, backup and database platforms
• Security-first mindset with a strong understanding of modern cloud security principles
• PowerShell scripting and automation experience
• Strong stakeholder management and customer-facing communication skills
• Ability to work autonomously across multiple customer environments and projects

Desirable Experience

• Microsoft certifications such as AZ-305, MS-102, SC-300 or equivalent
• Experience working within a Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment
• Infrastructure-as-Code experience, particularly Bicep
• Exposure to AI technologies and modern automation tooling
