Job Description

Co-Founder \& CEO/CTO — CaseBinder.ai

Posted by PatentVC \| Trademarkia Venture Partners

Sand Hill Road, Menlo Park · In-office, full-time

We are hiring a

technical co-founder

to lead CaseBinder.ai — an AI-native litigation operating system being built on top of the federal PACER docket infrastructure and the operational foundation of Trademarkia.

This is a

CEO \+ CTO \+ Co-Founder

role for someone who can write the code, own the technical roadmap, and stand in front of a BigLaw trial team and credibly explain what they have built and why it works.

What CaseBinder is

CaseBinder.ai is a real-time litigation-intelligence platform that ingests the entire ECF docket of a case, layers in caselaw, depositions, transcripts, and uploaded assets, and runs a

living LLM inference layer

across the entire corpus. Every fact, quote, contradiction, theory strength score, witness profile, and demonstrative exhibit hyperlinks one click back to the underlying primary source.

The platform is

bilateral by design

— every analysis is viewable from either plaintiff or defendant perspective, with the same trial-state intelligence flipping its strategic frame. In active matters today (the JUUL MDL, Musk v. Altman, Neurocentria v. Mando), the system is updated daily as new transcripts and filings come in.

It is the first tool we know of that:

  • Treats a federal litigation as a

single living inference window

rather than a stack of documents

  • Auto-stages cross-examination sequences, redirect scripts, and demonstrative exhibits

from the trial record itself

  • Watches opposing counsel for waiver risks, standing-order conflicts, and pattern behaviors

in real time

  • Renders strategic decision-making as visible architecture — Theories Battle View, Opponent Playbook, War Room, Live Trial Day

Demo:

https://www.casebinder.ai

(three live cases, ten\+ intelligence modules, real evidentiary records)

Why this is revolutionary

The legal tech market today is a stack of disconnected tools — PACER, Westlaw, Lexis, ECFX Notice, Relativity, iManage, NetDocuments, and a dozen point AI products. Attorneys spend a meaningful fraction of every billable hour assembling context that should already be assembled.

The category has been waiting for a unified inference layer

, and the LLM revolution made it possible in the last 18 months.

CaseBinder is the bet that

the unit of analysis in litigation is the case, not the document

— and that an AI system that holds the entire case in working memory and continuously updates it can replace ten disconnected tools and produce strategic intelligence those tools could never produce individually.

We are in active conversations with

an AM100 law firm

(pilot proposal under review), a

litigaiton team in Musk v. Altman

(live trial outreach), and

multibilllion dollar legaltech unicorn

(partnership and integration discussion). The product is real. The customers are real. The opportunity is unusually clear.

Why now, and why with PatentVC

PatentVC is the early-stage investment arm operated alongside Trademarkia, the largest IP filing platform in the United States —

1\.5 million monthly visitors

, more than a decade of consumer-scale ingestion infrastructure, and operating cash flow that funds CaseBinder's runway without venture dilution pressure.

You will not be raising a seed round next month. You will be

writing code on day one

with the financial runway and the engineering tooling — already battle-tested at Trademarkia scale — to ship to law-firm customers within the first quarter.

You will inherit:

  • A working v40 React product with ten major intelligence modules built and deployed
  • Live customer pipeline (Biglaw pilot under review; Musk v. Altman trial-team outreach in progress; Harvey integration discussion ongoing)
  • Trademarkia's ingestion infrastructure, document processing pipeline, and operational backbone

— the same systems that ingest millions of trademark filings annually will ingest the federal docket

  • Direct technical partnerships and team support from PatentVC's portfolio companies

What you'll own

  • Architect CaseBinder's backend

from the React prototype to a multi-tenant, secure, scalable production system serving Big Law trial teams

  • Direct PACER sync

— design and build the ingestion pipeline that pulls every new docket entry, parses every PDF and ECF text record, normalizes metadata across districts, and updates the inference window in real time across thousands of active matters

  • LLM inference architecture

— the system uses Claude Opus 4\.7 as the foundation model today. You will own the embedding pipeline, the inference-window construction, the hyperlink-to-source verification layer, the bilateral analytical engine, and inference-cost management at scale

  • Document management integration

— iManage, NetDocuments, Google Drive, Box, Clio. The integrations sit on top of Trademarkia's existing API layer

  • Hire and lead the engineering team

from the first hire forward

  • Stand alongside the founding team in customer conversations

(Orrick, Wachtell, Harvey, and the next dozen) and translate trial-team feedback directly into product

  • Set the technical roadmap and security/compliance posture

— SOC 2, Big Law procurement readiness, attorney-client privilege isolation, audit logging

What we're looking for

You probably have most of these:

  • Senior engineer or staff-level engineering leader

, 8\+ years building production systems

  • Shipped a

B2B SaaS or consumer product to real production scale

— millions of users, millions of documents, or both

  • Working knowledge of

LLM application architecture

— embeddings, RAG pipelines, agentic flows, inference cost management, prompt engineering for verifiability

  • Strong systems engineering discipline

— you know the difference between a prototype and a system that survives Big Law procurement review

  • You write code.

The CTO half of this role is not theoretical. We will read your last six months of GitHub activity together

  • Founder DNA

— comfortable writing code, talking to customers, recruiting engineers, and reviewing security questionnaires in the same week

  • Domain interest in legal tech

is welcome but not required. We have the legal expertise. We need the engineering muscle

Bonus:

  • Prior experience with PACER, ECF, or federal court data
  • Experience scaling consumer or SaaS products in regulated industries (finance, health, legal)
  • Background at an AI infrastructure company (Anthropic, OpenAI, Scale, or comparable)
  • Prior founder experience, even unsuccessful — we read failure clearly

Compensation

  • Co-founder equity stake

in CaseBinder.ai (significant, four-year vest with one-year cliff, standard founder terms)

  • Cash compensation calibrated to a senior Bay Area engineering lead

— competitive base, not Series-B-inflated. Trademarkia's cash flow funds it

  • Financial runway and operational support of Trademarkia and PatentVC

behind you on day one

  • In-office at 3000 Sand Hill Road, Menlo Park

— the team is local, the customers are within driving distance, and the velocity that comes from working in person at this stage is non-negotiable

How to apply

Email Raj Abhyanker directly: [email protected]

Subject line:

"CaseBinder co-founder — [your name]"

Include in the email:

  • A short note on why this matters to you
  • Links to the largest-scale system you have shipped, with traffic / document / user numbers
  • Your GitHub or equivalent
  • Whatever else makes the case

We move fast. The first conversation is at our office at 3000 Sand Hill Road, Menlo Park. The next round is a

paired technical session

— half code review on a real CaseBinder problem, half product strategy.
