Job Description

Join Us!

At Google Operations Center we help Google users and customers solve problems and achieve their goals—all while enjoying a culture focused on improving continuously and being better together. We work hard, we play hard, and we want you to join us!

The Sourcing Operations team serves as the operational backbone of the procurement function, seamlessly bridging the gap between internal business partners and the external supplier market. Dedicated to optimizing value and accelerating turnaround times (TAT), the team ensures that every dollar spent is thoroughly scrutinized for efficiency, risk mitigation, and maximum business impact. Crucially, this team also acts as an operational and data-security gatekeeper, managing the full lifecycle of sourcing requests - including highly sensitive, restricted, and confidential (Need-to-Know/NTK) procurement projects - while maintaining strictly secure environments to prevent unauthorized information exposure.

As the Sourcing Operations Team Lead, you will direct, empower, and optimize this high-performing team of Sourcing and/or Drafting Senior Specialists. You are the central orchestrator of daily procurement operations, responsible for overseeing central intake, validating taxonomies, and dynamically allocating resources to ensure continuous SLA compliance and prevent pipeline friction. Beyond day-to-day capacity management, you will enforce overarching quality assurance frameworks, govern commercial negotiation approvals, and uphold strict virtual security controls across all tools and systems. You will serve as a vital escalation point - resolving complex supplier blockers for your team while strategically elevating critical issues to senior leadership - and own the synthesis of performance data into impactful Business Reviews. When necessary, you will also act as a hands-on tactical contributor, managing critical end-to-end sourcing cases to balance workload and drive high-priority initiatives forward.

**Position Responsibilities**

  • Central Intake, Triage \& Case Assignment
  • Monitor and review new sourcing requests within the central case management system.
  • Validate category taxonomy for all incoming requests to ensure accurate downstream routing and prevent pipeline friction.
  • Allocate resources by assigning cases to the appropriate Sourcing Specialist based on spend category, complexity, and current workload.
  • Drive SLA compliance by ensuring high case assignment accuracy and timely acknowledgment to requesters.
  • Facilitate alignment by scheduling (and occasionally leading) initial kick-off meetings with business stakeholders to define project scope, timelines, and sourcing strategies.
  • Managing Day-to-Day Operations
  • Optimize capacity by monitoring team-wide resource allocation and managing standard portfolio mixes.
  • Manage access controls by administering directory access and folder permissions within secure environments (e.g., Google Drive).
  • Enforce compliance by overseeing strict virtual security controls across all systems and tools used by the team.
  • Performance \& Business Reviews
  • Own the reporting cycle from the compilation and analysis to the presentation of periodic Business Reviews.
  • Synthesize performance data to clearly showcase team achievements, including cost savings, SLA compliance, and security containment metrics.
  • Governance \& Sign-offs
  • Enforce QA frameworks by continuously tracking performance metrics and quality benchmarks, stepping in promptly to resolve deviations or address performance gaps.
  • Govern negotiation approvals by managing the review and routing of negotiation plans according to established spend thresholds.
  • Act as a primary escalation point in a two-way capacity - resolving complex cases, supplier blockers, and data delays for the team, while strategically escalating critical issues to senior leadership when executive intervention is required.
  • Others
  • Act as a hands-on contributor by managing individual end-to-end sourcing cases as needed to balance team workload, cover capacity gaps, or drive high-priority initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related analytical discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 5\+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, indirect procurement, procurement analytics, or supply chain operations, ideally within a high-compliance or corporate shared-services environment.
  • 3\+ years experience in coaching, developing, and leading sourcing teams while maintaining strong organizational momentum.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders, manage expectations, and pivot strategies quickly in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
  • Proven ability to champion operational excellence, driving the strategic vision for workflow optimization, automation, and the implementation of robust procurement governance frameworks across the team.
  • Solid experience using data analytics and visualization tools to perform cost-benefit analyses and drive sourcing strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience translating complex spend analytics and savings tracking into executive-level insights and recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications

**Preferred Qualifications**

  • Having as many of these specific qualifications is a plus, but transferable skills/experiences may be equally valuable.
  • Certifications: Professional certification in procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain management (e.g., CPSM, MCIPS, or CSCP) is highly preferred.

Benefits

  • We support you with competitive wages and with comprehensive health care including medical, dental and vision coverage
  • We support your family with gender-neutral baby bonding leave, 18 week birth-parent maternity leave, and generous life, accident and disability insurance minimums
  • Employees who work onsite can enjoy free meals and snacks, and fun onsite experiences
