Job Description

Contracts and Relationships Manager, Warwick or London (Hybrid) – c. £53,000 plus benefits

Job Purpose

National Gas is securing Britain’s energy. We transport gas throughout Great Britain, repair and maintain gas pipelines, and manage the meters that allow millions of homes and businesses to access the energy they need. We are the national gas network, providing secure energy to power Britain, achieve net zero, and maintain our industrial competitiveness.

As Contracts and Relationships Manager in our Commercial team, you will play a key role in improving the customer journey across our connections, diversions and modification projects.

You'll take ownership of customer and contract escalations, proactively identifying risks that could impact project delivery, increase costs or affect customer satisfaction. Working across both our existing gas network and emerging energy infrastructure, including hydrogen and CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage), you'll collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders to drive successful outcomes and deliver an excellent customer experience.

Join us, and help be the energy behind the change.

About The Role

As Contracts and Relationships Manager, you'll be responsible for managing customer and stakeholder engagement across a varied portfolio of projects, ensuring contractual obligations are understood, risks are managed and project issues are resolved effectively.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as the main point of contact for customer contract-related escalations and complex project issues.
  • Leading customer and stakeholder meetings to review project progress, identify risks and agree actions.
  • Working closely with internal teams across construction, asset management and system operations to ensure successful contract delivery.
  • Analysing performance and management information to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of new contractual arrangements and customer processes, including projects linked to hydrogen and CCUS.
  • Maintaining oversight of contractual, financial and regulatory obligations while ensuring customer commitments are met.
  • Building strong relationships with customers and stakeholders to positively influence outcomes and improve overall project delivery.

This role can be based from either our Warwick or London office, with occasional travel to the alternate office.

About You

We're looking for someone who combines commercial awareness with strong customer relationship skills and a proactive approach to problem solving.

You'll ideally have:

  • Experience managing multiple priorities and delivering results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Significant experience in customer-facing operational or project environments.
  • A proven track record of building and managing effective customer relationships.
  • Knowledge or experience of contract management and contract delivery.
  • Flexibility and effectiveness in communication; from management information to detailed operational topics
  • Familiarity with KPIs management and able to take data-driven decisions
  • Experience working within a regulated industry or operating environment.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • The ability to identify risks, solve problems and drive positive outcomes for customers and the business.

What We Can Offer You

  • Salary c. £53,000 (dependent on experience)
  • Annual bonus of 6% based on personal and company performance
  • 26 days’ holiday plus 8 statutory holidays – plus option to buy 5 additional days
  • Double-match pension scheme - for every £1 you put in, we'll add £2 (max company contribution 12%)
  • Opt-In flexible benefit scheme, including salary sacrifice private healthcare, dental insurance, technology plans and more
  • Financial protection with 10x salary death in service and financial support if you're unable to work due to long term illness or injury
  • Excellent family friendly provisions - maternity/paternity/adoption/surrogacy/ shared parental leave
  • Career progression, professional training and development
  • Employee assistance programme offering free confidential professional counselling 24/7
  • Financial support to cover the cost of professional membership subscriptions, and study support
  • Hybrid working – on average 2 days per week in the office at Warwick or London, and the remainder from home
