About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on accounting leader to oversee core accounting operations while supporting financial performance and decision-making across the business. This role is responsible for managing the general ledger, month-end close, reconciliations, and internal controls, while ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. The position also partners cross-functionally to provide visibility into performance, improve processes, and maintain strong financial discipline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with project managers and field leadership to monitor job costs, budgets, WIP schedules, and project profitability, ensuring accurate financial tracking across all active construction projects.
  • Analyze cost trends, change orders, and project forecasts to provide actionable insights that improve margins and operational performance.
  • Oversee core accounting activities including month-end close, general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Support project billing cycles, including progress billing, retainage tracking, and revenue recognition in alignment with construction accounting standards.
  • Collaborate with operations and finance teams on cash flow planning, forecasting, and budget development at both project and division levels.
  • Assist with integration of newly acquired projects or entities, ensuring alignment with financial systems, reporting structures, and internal controls.
  • Strengthen and maintain internal controls, audit readiness, and compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
  • Drive improvements in financial systems, reporting tools, and process automation to enhance efficiency and visibility across projects.
  • Prepare and present financial reports and performance metrics to senior leadership to support strategic decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 7\+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, preferably within construction or project-based environments
  • Strong understanding of job costing, WIP reporting, and revenue recognition
  • Experience working closely with operations or project management teams
  • Proficiency in accounting systems and advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
