Reporting to the VP of Strategy, joining Mafco as a Cosmetic Scientist will be a launchpad for an international career in Research and Development. This role offers exposure to global clients, application research, prototype development, and collaboration with Mafco's teams across the USA, France, and China. You will be at the center of Mafco's growth strategy, working on initiatives that shape the future of the company. From identifying and evaluating opportunities to supporting client product development, you'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop new applications for licorice derivatives. Your role will also involve conducting scientific research, participating in conferences and tradeshows, and joining client visits together with our business development team.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop cosmetic applications and prototypes incorporating the value of licorice derivatives.
- Provide technical guidance on the use of licorice derivatives in skin care and oral care products.
- Technically represent Mafco at client visits, conferences, and tradeshows.
- Promote Mafco products through the creation of presentations and participation in industry networking.
- Develop technical relationships with customers and distributors.
- Monitor trends in the personal care and oral care industry and propose ideas to address these trends.
- Maintain an accurate, detailed and up-to-date notebook of laboratory activities.
- Identify necessary laboratory equipment for formulating skincare products and establish laboratory capabilities in Mount Laurel
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor or Master of Science in chemistry, cosmetic science, or a comparable degree.
- Minimum 3 years of formulation experience in the cosmetic industry, preferably with skincare products.
- Aptitude to comprehend scientific/technical descriptions of analytical specification, methods, and processes.
- Demonstrated organizational, project management, and problem-solving (analytical and quantitative) skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with proven customer-facing presentation abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
