Cost Accountant

Job Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and analyze standard costs for raw materials, packaging, labor, and manufacturing overhead.
- Prepare monthly cost reports, profitability analyses, and variance reporting for management.
- Perform margin analysis by product, customer, and production line to identify opportunities for cost savings and operational improvements.
- Maintain accurate inventory valuation and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Coordinate and participate in physical inventory counts and cycle counts while reconciling inventory discrepancies.
- Partner with production and plant leadership to analyze labor, material, and overhead costs and improve manufacturing efficiency.
- Support new product costing, pricing initiatives, recipe updates, and process changes.
- Prepare inventory, manufacturing cost, and cost allocation journal entries during month-end and year-end close.
- Assist with the annual budgeting and forecasting process by developing cost models, financial projections, and variance analyses.
- Collaborate with the FP\&A Manager, Plant Director, and operations teams to support strategic planning and business objectives.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- Professional certification (CPA, CMA, or equivalent) preferred.
- 3–5 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Food manufacturing experience is preferred.
- Strong understanding of standard costing, inventory accounting, manufacturing cost analysis, and variance analysis.
- Experience with ERP systems and inventory management software.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner across Finance and Operations.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
