Job Description
Our client, a growing organization in the manufacturing sector, is seeking a
Buyer/Procurement Specialist
to join their team. This role involves managing day-to-day purchasing activities, developing supplier relationships, and coordinating procurement processes to ensure timely delivery of materials and components in accordance with project and customer requirements.

Responsibilities:
- Manages the company’s day-to-day purchasing activities
- Develops and maintains a comprehensive understanding of the technical specifications of products and services procured
- Works closely with Operations and Sales to understand technical requirements and standards
- Develops a supplier review process to ensure suppliers meet standards regarding quality, delivery, and compliance with laws and regulations
- Coordinates the selection and qualification of suppliers in collaboration with Operations and QHSE
- Develops and maintains business relationships with key strategic suppliers
- Maintains an approved vendors list and updates supplier information regarding capabilities, pricing, quality, and delivery issues
- Ensures the procurement process is done diligently, including submitting RFQs or RFPs and evaluating quotations based on price and delivery time
- Issues purchase orders to selected suppliers and coordinates shipment of goods to the warehouse or customer location
- Reviews shipment documentation to ensure all information is correct and shipments meet customer specifications and deadlines
- Provides suppliers with necessary data and specifications to meet technical requirements
- Follows up with suppliers to avoid errors or delays and updates operations teams throughout the supply chain
- Ensures full understanding of technical specifications when sourcing highly technical parts, materials, or equipment to ensure compliance
- Maintains inventory levels according to company guidelines and manages excess or obsolete inventory with a recovery or disposition plan
- Generates order confirmations and coordinates with sales and operations to secure client approval and updates orders as needed
- Reports potential issues, delays, quality concerns, and non-conformances promptly, maintaining shortage and backlog reports
- Identifies process improvement areas and recommends solutions to optimize procurement, cost management, and vendor performance
- Coordinates receipt and inspection of shipments, ensuring they meet technical and quality standards and managing returns if necessary
- Acts as a liaison with accounting, providing necessary documentation for onboarding new suppliers, resolving PO and pricing discrepancies, and payment issues
- Supports inventory and stock management, material planning, and assists inside sales with quote requests and order coordination
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- 2-3 years of experience in electronic components purchasing, planning, or supply chain management
- Strong understanding of procurement processes, industry standards, and supplier management
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills
- Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and meet deadlines with sound judgment
- Knowledge of logistics and quality control procedures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage priorities and workflow effectively
- Knowledge of safety practices
- CPIM certification is a plus
- Positive attitude, interpersonal skills, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
