About The Job

The Benefits \& Compensation Manager position is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of total rewards programs, including group benefits and compensation. This role administers benefits programs (group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance, travel and accident plans, flexible spending plans, etc.) and supports compensation activities such as job evaluations, salary structures, market pricing, and incentive programs. This position provides excellent customer service and promotes and educates employees regarding benefits and compensation programs.

Duties/Responsibilities

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Identify and implement benefits to increase the quality of life for employees by working with brokers and researching benefits issues.
  • Related occupations
  • Manage the design and development of tools to assist employees in benefits selection, and to guide managers through compensation decisions.
  • Conduct job evaluations and maintain job classifications and salary structures aligned with internal equity and external market data._
  • Participate in compensation benchmarking and salary surveys; analyze market data and make recommendations.
  • Support annual compensation planning processes, including merit increases, promotions, and incentive programs.
  • Plan and conduct new-employee orientations to foster positive attitude toward organizational objectives.
  • Plan and participate in benefits orientations, open enrollment and other benefit activities.
  • Provide training and support for employees .
  • Be a proactive advocate, educator, and marketer of Galloway’s benefit programs.
  • Coordinate daily benefits processing. Handle enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims.
  • The position may require the ability to process rollovers, QDROs, QMCSOs, distributions, loans, hardships and may require some support of compliance testing.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations and plan documents.
  • Monitor and report on maintenance, accuracy, and timeliness of employee benefits files
  • Maintains vendor contact to investigate discrepancies and provide information in non-routine situations.
  • Maintain group benefits database and update employee payroll records as it pertains to benefits.
  • Perform plan audits under the direction of the benefits manager. Prepare, collect and organize data for various internal and external reporting needs.

Compensation Package

Pay rate: Base salary ranges from $110,000-$155,000 per year

Supervision Given And Received

This is an individual contributor reporting to the Director of Human Resources.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, compliance requirements affecting employee benefits programs, including the ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA Section 125, etc.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Strong analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of plan designs.
  • Technical savvy. Hands on experience with Microsoft Office Suite. Advanced Excel skills are a must.
  • Benefits configuration experience or HCM implementation experience is highly desirable.
  • Strategic planning, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent time management and organization skills and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Travel: approximately 10-15% domestically.

Computer Skills

Ability to navigate multiple computer systems, type 25\+ wpm, advanced familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.), advanced internet research skills, and experience with mainstream HRIS or HCM platforms. Ability to regularly use computers.

Certificates And Licenses

Certifications in benefits administration or applicable areas of human resources are desirable.

Examples Include

Certified Employee Benefits Specialist, Group Benefits Associate, Associate Professional in Human Resources, etc.

Education And Experience

An associate degree in a benefits or HR area of study and 5 years of experience with a minimum of 2 years of direct experience supporting the benefits department of an organization.

Work Environment \& Physical Demands

  • Office environment, temperature controlled.
