Benefits Specialist / HR Professional
We are seeking a mid- to senior-level HR professional with a strong background in benefits administration and ideally some working knowledge of compensation practices. This role is ideal for someone with broad HR experience who has developed deep expertise in employee benefits over the past several years and can support compensation initiatives as needed.
Position Overview
The Benefits Specialist will be responsible for the design, administration, and continuous improvement of employee benefits programs. This individual will serve as a key resource to employees and leadership, ensuring programs are competitive, compliant, and aligned with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
Benefits (Primary Focus):
- Lead the administration of all employee benefits programs including health, dental, vision, retirement, wellness, and leave programs
- Manage annual open enrollment processes, including planning, communication, and execution
- Partner with brokers and vendors to evaluate and enhance benefit offerings
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations (e.g., ERISA, ACA, COBRA, FMLA)
- Analyze benefits utilization, trends, and costs; recommend improvements based on data
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefits inquiries and issue resolution
- Develop and deliver clear employee communications and education materials
General HR Support:
- Collaborate with broader HR team on initiatives such as onboarding, employee engagement, and policy development
- Maintain accurate HRIS data related to benefits and compensation
- Support audits, reporting, and continuous process improvement efforts
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- 3–7\+ years of progressive HR experience, with a strong emphasis on benefits administration
- Working knowledge of compensation principles and practices
- Experience managing vendors, brokers, and external partners
- Strong understanding of benefits compliance and regulatory requirements
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- High level of discretion and ability to handle confidential information
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with HRIS systems and benefits administration platforms
- Professional certification (e.g., CEBS, SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR)
- Experience in data analysis and reporting tools
