Investment Analyst, Long/Short Equity (Confidential Search)

About the Firm:
Our client is a Dallas-based, market-neutral equity hedge fund entering an exciting new phase of growth. The firm runs a multi-PM structure focused on TMT, Healthcare, and adjacent sectors. It recently expanded its senior leadership team to support the next stage of platform growth. This is a chance to join a lean, high-caliber team at an inflection point.
The Role:
The Analyst will support a Portfolio Manager in generating and managing long and short ideas within an assigned TMT or Healthcare coverage universe.
Responsibilities:
- Generate differentiated long and short ideas through fundamental research, financial modeling, and industry work.
- Prepare formal write-ups for new ideas, with clear variant views and catalyst paths.
- Maintain and regularly re-underwrite active positions.
- Produce earnings previews and post-mortems with scenario-based analysis.
- Communicate conviction and position views to the PM on an ongoing basis.
What They’re Looking For:
- 2–5\+ years of experience in equity research, investment banking, or a buy-side role.
- Strong financial modeling and valuation skills.
- Sector knowledge in TMT or Healthcare.
- An entrepreneurial mindset: someone energized by helping build a platform, who wants a real seat at the table, meaningful ownership of their work, and a share in the long-term value they help create.
- Bachelor’s degree required; CFA or MBA a plus.
