About The Role
Sentara Health is seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Governance Analyst to join our dynamic team. This fully remote position offers an excellent opportunity for professionals with a strong background in data governance, business analysis, and healthcare systems. The Senior Data Governance Analyst will be responsible for supporting and optimizing data management practices across the organization, ensuring data quality, compliance, and security. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and implement data policies, standards, and procedures that align with organizational goals. The analyst will also oversee data stewardship activities, manage metadata, and facilitate data exploration and visualization efforts to support strategic decision-making. Additionally, the position entails managing smaller projects related to data governance initiatives, coordinating system upgrades, and providing expert guidance on data-related challenges within healthcare environments.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of five years of relevant experience in data governance, business analysis, or related fields, with a degree in a relevant discipline. Candidates with seven or more years of experience without a degree will also be considered. Experience in healthcare-specific data systems such as electronic medical records, billing, claims processing, and financial systems is essential. Familiarity with metadata management, data cataloging, data stewardship, and data policy development is required. Candidates should demonstrate expertise in data mapping, process improvement techniques, data visualization, and analytic programming. Knowledge of database management, master data management, ETL processes, and cloud computing is highly desirable. Business acumen in finance, accounting, operations, and healthcare management will be advantageous. Certification requirements are not specified, but relevant credentials in data governance or healthcare informatics are a plus.
Responsibilities
The Senior Data Governance Analyst will be responsible for supporting the organization’s data governance framework, ensuring data quality, consistency, and security across all healthcare systems. Key responsibilities include analyzing business and clinical needs to develop effective data management strategies, performing workflow assessments to identify functional requirements, and creating comprehensive system test plans for software upgrades and patches. The role involves managing incident, problem, and change management processes, as well as handling service requests related to data systems. The analyst will provide daily support to end-users and collaborate with cross-functional teams to facilitate seamless application integration aligned with organizational needs. Oversight of smaller projects or project components related to data governance initiatives will be part of the role, including coordinating implementation plans for software releases. The position also requires maintaining clear communication regarding software issues, system enhancements, and regulatory compliance, ensuring all stakeholders are informed and engaged.
