Job Description
Applied Innovative Billing LLC is seeking an experienced Part-Time Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) Specialist to support outpatient rehabilitation and mental health providers with compliant billing operations, payer follow-up, credentialing, and revenue cycle management.
This is not an entry-level medical billing position. Candidates without direct outpatient rehabilitation billing experience will not be considered.
This role is fully remote; however, all work must be physically performed within the continental United States. Offshore access, outsourcing, VPN routing outside the United States, or work performed outside the continental U.S. is strictly prohibited.
Preference will be given to candidates located in Michigan due to future growth opportunities and the potential transition into a full-time W2 role.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of direct outpatient Physical Therapy (PT), Occupational Therapy (OT), and/or Speech Therapy (SLP) medical billing experience
- Experience independently handling payer claim follow-up, denial resolution, appeals, and payer communications without scripted workflows
- Experience working directly with commercial and government insurance payers
- Experience with patient balance review and collections workflows
- Experience with commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care payer follow-up
- Hands-on working experience with at least 3 of the software platforms listed below
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future
- Ability to perform all work physically within the continental United States
- Current CPB, CMRS, or equivalent billing certification OR willingness to obtain certification verification within 6 months of starting
Required Software Experience
Candidates must have hands-on working experience with at least 3 of the following platforms:

- ClaimMD
- Inovalon
- Waystar
Provider Enrollment \& Credentialing Experience
Candidates must have experience with provider enrollment and credentialing for major carriers, including but not limited to:
- Medicare
- Blue Cross Blue Shield plans
- UnitedHealthcare
- Cigna
- Medica
- Independent BCBS plans
- Horizon
- NY Workers Compensation Board
- Additional commercial and government payers based on provider location
Contractor Requirements
- Carry Professional Liability / Errors \& Omissions Insurance with minimum coverage of $1 million per occurrence / $3 million aggregate
- Maintain a HIPAA-compliant Google Workspace account and appropriate encryption standards
- Maintain a HIPAA-compliant remote workspace suitable for handling protected health information
- Be comfortable working in a compliance-focused environment with documented workflows and operational accountability
Additional Information
- Preference will be given to candidates located in Michigan
- This role may grow into a full-time W2 opportunity for the right candidate
- Candidates located outside of Michigan may have limitations regarding future W2 transition opportunities
