Job Description
The Senior Director, Systems \& Solutions Engineering leads the team responsible for designing, building, and operating the systems and solutions that support Renesas product groups and technologies. This is a senior leadership role reporting to the VP of User Experience, responsible for setting technical direction, managing a team of managers and senior engineers, and partnering cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, reliable solutions. The role combines strategic ownership of the systems/solutions roadmap with hands-on accountability for team performance, delivery, and operational excellence.
Job Description
- Own the strategy, roadmap, and execution for the Systems \& Solutions Engineering team, aligning priorities to business needs from product groups and sales.
- Lead, develop, and grow a team of 5–8 direct reports (managers and senior ICs), including hiring, performance management, and career development.
- Partner with Product, Engineering leadership, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Drive architectural decisions and technical standards for systems and solutions delivery, balancing speed, quality, and long-term maintainability.
- Develop scalable systems solutions that can be leveraged effectively in distribution and mass market channels and initiatives.
- Manage team budget, headcount planning, and vendor/tooling decisions within the function.
- Establish and monitor KPIs for team delivery, system reliability, and operational health; report progress to senior leadership.
- Represent the team in cross-functional planning, executive reviews, and strategic initiatives.
- Identify and mitigate technical and organizational risk across systems and solutions initiatives
Qualifications
- 20\+ years of experience in systems engineering, solutions engineering, or related technical roles, including 5\+ years in a people leadership capacity.
- Proven track record managing managers globally and building/scaling technical teams.
- Strong track record partnering with senior stakeholders (Director level and above) to align technical strategy with business priorities.
- Deep understanding of systems architecture, solutions delivery, and operational best practices.
- Experience owning budget, headcount, and vendor management for a technical function.
- Excellent communication skills, with experience presenting to executive leadership.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Able to travel globally (up to 25%).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in running a globally distributed organization.
- Prior experience operating at the Senior Director / Director level in a similarly sized organization.
- Working level experience in industrial applications. Global interaction with a diverse set of customers is a plus.
Additional Information
The expected annual pay range for this position is a base range of $260,000K - $325,000K. This position is also eligible for bonus opportunities. Please note that final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience, and skillset of the candidate.
